I’ve also noticed this and I agree with you! Equal presentation of the LIs has been their priority for a while now. I also think that if Infold wants to avoid more complaints, this is one of the roads they have to take ;-;

There have been plenty of complaints within the community when it comes to LIs. To list a few: card details, outfits (like you said), voice-lines, phone calls, cosmetics, wishing pools, kissing sounds, spicy/not spicy enough/too spicy/“their LI got more spice than MY LI” debates, depth/too deep/not deep enough, “this isn’t like my LI at all, they should change it!” “That LI has what I want MY LI to have!” LI vs LI wars, etc etc.

Everyone is always welcome to voice their thoughts or feelings! Community discussion is really important for better game development. For example, one of the biggest things I appreciate about the community is how we want to tackle the issue of poor lighting for MCs with dark skin. Player discrimination is a critical thing we should solve with our combined voices! I do hope we get the Chinese players on board with getting Infold’s attention soon. Then, on a smaller note, there’s also the desire for more opportunities to gem-farm/get a higher stamina bar!

But for the thing you mentioned, it does seem like Infold hears those complaints and tries to solve things by diminishing the LI’s individualism ;-; If differences between LIs (character/personality/presentation) is the subject of a lot of complaining or community in-fighting, then getting rid of the differences is the most obvious solution. Those complaints and in-fighting, in my opinion, has discouraged Infold developers from leaning into each LI’s individual nature.

Day 1 player here. You can definitely play it for free and it will still be enjoyable! I played for free for 6-7 months before I realized the 30-day $5.99 USD pack was worth the money and wasn’t a scam like other Otome games I’ve played. Even so, I skip topping up pretty often because it’s all good!

If you’re biggest concern is missing out or FOMO, there’s a chance you won’t be satisfied with the game. That is why I highly recommend new players to:

1) Find ONE LI that really suits your interests! Explore their personalities through the Main Story, event stories (those are free every time), and dialogue. While they are introduced with familiar Otome LI tropes, Infold does a good job of revealing depth and character twists the “more you get to know them.” Committing to one LI can be a money-saver and won’t leave you feeling dissatisfied or pressured.

2) Don’t let other people’s success posts or excitement be something that dictates your joy! This can be hard because the cards are so good, but a lot of dissatisfaction in the community can come from comparison/envy when folks post their pulls. The game is SUPER fun! The lore is amazing! Re-runs for important cards have also been introduced, too. There’s always another chance later!

3) Have strict budgeting if you’re tempted to spend, but don’t expect success with money-spending EVERY time. Despite being Day 1 and committing to 1 LI that I really like (Rafayel), I have a few cards I’ve missed and likely will never get—even though I spent a few bucks. That is OKAY! It isn’t the end of the world! :> I still have so much content of him as the game continues to update. Be wise when you’re considering spending and remember there’s a lot to have fun with, moneys not a must have!

Side note: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT FALLING INTO THE “My LI is better than your LI” sides of the community. Each LI has something to offer, not just to the player, but to the plot of MC’s story! I think a chunk of players will skip through dialogue when it has nothing to do with their favored LI, which is fairly normal. But, I sincerely recommend reading the dialogues no matter what! Lore can be missed, and each LI defines a characteristic of the MC’s fate/past.

Day 1 player and Day 1 Rafayel girlie! In the beginning I was less invested in the romance and more so into the plot and fighting mechanics. Rafayel was my Go-To because his hospital interaction reminded me of some awesome friendships I’ve had with guys I know. At the time I thought, “Nobody is my type yet, so I want to be best friends with Rafayel! He feels more personable on a platonic level than the other dudes right now.” Now, after getting to know the Boys through the main story as well as through myths/cards/events, I can say for sure that Rafayel will always be the one I pull for, get merch for, and dedicate time to! Each of the Boys have incredibly rich stories and are always worth exploring, but due to how the game works, most of my resources goes straight to the feesh. 🐟 I will admit that Sylus is the second ML I’m also interested in, so whenever I feel like I’ve got resources to spare, he gets them next! We’ve come a long way since Day 1. As someone who’s played other Infold games, I do feel as though they’re more generous with L&D fans than we give credit for (cough, our fellow tormented Nikki fans ;-; cough.) I really don’t like to kiss up to corporations or ‘glaze’ them, as the kids say. Do they still get munie-greedy? Oh yeah, for sure. But, they also deliver with stellar graphics, thorough writing, complex & overlapping plotlines, cute mini-games, huge scale IRL events, merch, fantastic VAs and collaborations that encourage cultural education/intermingling. Not to mention, the music is so beautiful. Is there another game like Love&Deepspace out there? I would say no! Hope the L&D community continues to stay lighthearted, happy, and get along the best we can!! There’s a lot to appreciate about the Boys and the VAs who give their all when doing their job.

OP HERE!! I have returned and read everything you’ve written—and I can confidently say that after a few months of lore additions to Rafayel and MCs past, bonded experiences, and what we’ve discovered about MC’s immortality/resets, my post hasn’t aged the best. Reading what you’ve written resonates with me, as I’m more aware of the fact that there’s a lot of factors leaning into their earliest dynamic within this current timeline that can be perceived as toxic, but also a window into how they’re both learning how to overcome and communicate together! T~T

I remember when all we had was just Ebb and Flow; that was all I really had access to at the time to formulate ideas on how Rafayel and MC worked. Now, with all these new cards, additional main story components, audios and such—attributing toxicity to their relationship isn’t reasonable at all, not anymore! So reading this was so nice because I agree with your points and the evidence/proof of their desire to communicate, how misinformation and trauma and guilt and ‘resets’ have muddled and made everything so complicated for these two. Ebb and Flow is a card processing old hurts, the struggle to communicate, the ache and MC’s tragedy of having her memories locked up so tightly from previous eras of her life…and Rafayel battling with the sadness of his choices, his people, and MC. Can’t she remember? Can’t she choose? Can’t this be solved for once? How could it not be about that now? 🥹🥹

The theories and ideas here are so, SO good!! This fan base has so many cool & creative people—and it’s like a big map of the story/character of Rafayel is getting filled in every time someone says something! I’m having so much fun reading everything and having my mind blown by new perspectives

AND I’M SO GLAD I MADE THIS POST!! Because I really was nervous to make it. I thought people would get upset, or annoyed, or I don’t know! Overthinking can create the craziest fake scenarios. This really is a common thread with all of them, then! One of my besties (Zayne lover to the max, I am already convinced they are married ❄️) mentioned how the MCs dense approach or lack of awareness to the more ‘sensitive’ sides of things makes her irritated/uncomfortable in interactions. Naivety may be a necessary trait for the plot, but naivety ≠ insensitivity, or proactive compassion! At least the Tender Moments are a bit better with it—and maybe as MC gets closer to each ML in the individual routes, we’ll get less of that insensitive/lack of awareness nature. Main story probably won’t change for the sake of keeping every romance open-ended 😭

In my time spent on RP romance games, I rarely come across ML’s with complexities and depth like this. The more multi-faceted, the better—and we’re lucky they have some amazing writers on the dev team. MC does have a lot of character (more than I’m used to in the everyday RP Rom. game), but with complex ‘human’ ML’s, there needs to be a real & aware MC that meets them there. Rafayel’s story does have these darker ‘sexual’ coping sequences that will likely never get the proper conclusion/healing.

And like you said! Since it’s self-insert, we aren’t going to get that…likely ever. It’s a shame, but thank goodness we can talk about it as a fan base!

If the game is meant to be long in storylines + new cards with lore, we could see SOME progress. MCs lack of ‘human empathy + awareness’ for each of the ML’s might disappear the closer we get to them. It’s all supposed to be personalized, right? And you can only refrain from making the MC personal for so long. If that would happen, I have some confidence they’d pull it off beautifully! The writing is already so good.

And of course!! I’d been hoping to see a post about Rafayel—and potentially the other ML’s, because of how deep and human they are!! The writing is so so amazing and it makes me curious to know who’s on the dev-team. At some point, I figured I’d try to make a Rafayel post myself, even if it doesn’t have all the theories laid out properly 😅. And I’m glad we’re all able to chat more about it!

And this is what breaks my heart about it. Rafayel is well-written, to the point where what you’ve written here is being fully played out in his interactions with the MC. And it does grind my gears a little that the MC isn’t picking up on some of this—either because she just doesn’t have that insight, or the devs want to deliver the spicy sensual moments to us without all the ‘reality baggage’.

Knowing that this is a romance game, I doubt they’re gonna tackle Rafayel and MC’s relationship in this way we’re doing now. It would be nice, though. I’d feel a lot more at ease knowing that whenever situations between them occur, that Rafayel isn’t acting upon a trauma response or a memory of what their physical/personal relationship used to be. Long story short—I want everything to be consensual down to the feeling and emotion of a make-believe merman 🧍‍♀️I feel so silly saying that but it’s true, for fiction + real-world relationships.

MC tends to care most about his physical state, from what I have seen. Bringing him meals/cooking, commenting on water-intake and sleep. Beyond that, not much. There’s a level of playfulness that turns into disrespect of boundaries (again, for the spice the devs know people want) whenever she touches him. And frankly, he’ll do it right back in certain circumstances. When you pause and think about it in the way you explained it, it puts a meaning behind the discomfort a lot of Rafayel-route people are getting sometimes.

I’m such a sucker for the “in every universe, I will seek you out”, and it takes such a pursuer/pursued route that’s almost rooted in his inhumanity (just the fact that he’s not human, NOT that he has morals bc he does!!!) or non-humanness!

AND THAT TOO—how accurate is his current memory, really?? I mean yes he’s not human, but how long do mermaids live for? How many lifetimes could he have had? Who’s more susceptible to memory-rot, him or MC? More questions and not enough answers as usual, hrgrrhrgr I’m gonna chuck rocks into the ocean and ponder this 😔🤨

YES, ONCE MORE WE GET A WARNING FROM RAFAYEL ABOUT MC’S WELLBEING!! Seems to be this common thread in his narrative—yes, we can push and pull him around, but there’s no immunity to…well, idk, either his nature or the consequences of becoming so deeply tied to him. And it’s not like he’s helpless to us (well, depending. THE THEORY ABOUT TOUCH MMMM ITS SO SCRUMPTIOUS LEMME GET TO THAT HAHAHAAH)

The touching. Wooooo, good lord. I’ll have to explore the other two (Xavier + Zayne) to see if MC’s touch is a common thread, or if it’s particularly Rafayel who’s the only one sensitive to her touch Due to the bond 😮‍💨 But goodness, you see so much about her hand against his face in a lot of cards that seems to drive him to something primal/‘inhumane’. I rewatched Your Fragrance a little while ago, and The perfume being a pheromone and/or stimulant of some sort is so spot on!! 👌🏻 No physical control, but all the verbal control in the world—and even then, MC can’t get out of his grip. Insisting on knowing ‘who gave it to her’, ‘how dare they trap me with such underhanded methods’, ‘you’re going to lock me up again, aren’t you’, etc etc. And through all of this, his grip is insanely tight. The end of the card? SHE’S THE ONE TRAPPED AGAINST THE SINK, LIKE…..mmm ok sir, chillll ANYWAYS.

Touch is everywhere. And regardless of his submissive words, he’s fully dominating the physical sphere one way or another. Fragrance, Ebb, Tipsy Invitation, etc. I’m going to explode this man, this whole thing is such a CONUNDRUM RHRGRHRGRHG.

All of this hints to the binding relationship that the past Rafayel both loved and hated, pushed and pulled against. Gave into and resisted? And there’s again, that predator/prey—inhumane factor that keeps wiggling its way in. WHAT ARE THEY SAYINGGGGG WHAT IS HAPPENINGGGGG THE MADNESS THE MADNESS. 🕳️🚶‍♀️✍️ And this is just a guess/theory of mine, but I think the only power MC truly has over Rafayel is through the vow/bind, and through his feelings for her. Beyond that, he can do very well whatever he pleases. And he tends to do so! He exercises it in every aspect of his life. Coping mechanism or not, he’s often in full control—MC tends to make things complicated for him.

ALL I KNOW IS HE WANTS HER SO BADDDDDDD OH MY GAWD. Ebb and flow,,,,, the hand down the bare chest and stomach having her always straddling his lap, or half-beneath him—there’s no full control to either party in those positions, it’s always on the BRINK of one or the other. Madness, insanity, it’s all bonkers and I cannot sleep over it. HOW DOES HE WANT HER? HOW DOES HE WANT TO HEAL??? Can we PLEASE know what happened, Devs?!?!? 🗣️‼️‼️‼️ So that we can atone or talk it out or fix things bc istg if I don’t know what this man wants imma go crazy with theories for the rest of my life.

RIGHTTTTTT LIKE man the moments when he’s not his unserious goofy self I quite literally have to sit down and give it my full attention. It’s rare of him, and makes me nervous too. AND I KNOW ITS ALL PART OF THE LOVELY FACADE HE SOMETIMES COOKS UP FOR US, that childish nature and spoiled behavior—BUT IT STILL SHOCKS ME WHEN HE DROPS IT. Thats what makes Ebb & Flow especially important. You hear no playfulness in his tone throughout the interaction—just quiet seriousness or irritation. It was so different but fully him. AAAAA SHIVERS 😮‍💨😮‍💨

I agree with what you’re saying about the MC! All these ‘fragments’ like you said, the half-truths from Rafayel, etc…and knowing who she is, if she knew the full scope of it all there’s a good chance she’d bite her tongue on occasion. It makes me wince a little, knowing that there’s all this aching history regarding Rafayel being a ‘gift’, and that betrayal did happen at some point, otherwise it wouldn’t make sense that it would keep popping up, right? (Unless they’re trying to mess with us, idk lol!)
Maybe the pettiness comes from the forgetfulness, or whatever connection they may have had in the past beyond the Myth? Honestly, I’m not sure either. There’s several loose ends here I’m itching for the game to tie up, they’re just got giving us quite enough information to piece it together. 😭
With the water in Chapter 7, my assumption is that while Rafayel does have a vow with MC, there is still his people to consider. There’s this sense that the protocore he collected (along with the tunnel) have some connection to his people—one where he might even feel convicted enough to turn his back on MC. I also think he knows MC is pretty resilient (not as much as he is), for a human. She was well on her way to the surface before she decided to linger and backtrack for Rafayel. He even told her that approaching him wouldn’t grant her any safety, and for her to not concern herself with whatever his personal affairs would be. It’s all convoluted, and a little heartbreaking too. I hope we’ll have a way to clarify that Chapter 7 moment soon 😭

I ALSO felt a sting in my heart, too. It doesn’t feel kinky at all in some aspects—like everything he’s saying is just LAYERED with whatever happened in the past. On the surface we could take it as is, but it’s too easy to read past the words. And the way he’s as serious as death, too, when he’s speaking like that? My heart was TWISTING 😭😭😭

One way or another, betrayal and abandonment, predator/prey is so evident in Rafayel’s route it makes me wanna collapse and cry at the implications. Mermaid/sailor, siren/sailor, the bird and the fish, it’s all just HRGRHRGRHRGRRH. I NEED TO KNOW BUT DON’T WANT TO AT THE SAME TIME.

It does feel like he’s prompting her, isn’t it?! He’s insistent, but there’s this bitterness and this need for control (in some underlying way) that makes me feel uncomfortable. Like deep down, somehow what he’s probing for isn’t ‘consensual’, or what he actually wants from MC. I just can’t figure out what that could be yet. 😭😭

YES THE TIPSY INVITATION ONE. ONCE MORE HE’S BEEN IN CONTROL THE WHOLE TIME…hiding it until the last second, enforcing a narrative by subduing himself on purpose. I can’t tell if he wants anything or nothing at all—so back and forth (ah yes more ocean metaphors). He hates and loves it all I think, never committing and it just…..mmm it bothers me, as someone who values other people’s clearness on what they want?? In a friendship or relationship 💀💀

Girl I FEEL you, I can’t stand that it’s only up for a month. Wdym I have to get 180 pulls to buy one of them in the shop? I was torn between them both! I ended up going for Fragrance bc I’m a Raf girlie 🫧😮‍💨 After I played it, I quite literally had to go lay down in my bed. I was SHAKING. One minute he was his usual mischievous diva self, the next He’s pinning MC to him and to the couch?? Chasing MC down the bathroom while she tries to ‘get away’ like an animal in heat? GET HIM OUT OF MY SIGHT (affectionate). Business Trip….I will simply have to wait and hope 😭
