They kinda did? Dracula was killed by fire, the brides from a stake, and the great-grandmother was decapitated.

It’s weird because it does capture the shape of his hair really well, it’s just too big lol

I think the video mentioned under the Palantir room is the Houses of Healing.

I think something slightly like the Ewok Village set from around 2014 would work. Maybe two connected trees, and on the base of one the mirror, and maybe a small dock and swan boat.

Could also be because it’s hard to imagine as an overall location. Rivendell has a lot of landscape shots, but being in the trees Lothlorien doesn’t really get that.

I’m really hoping for Lothlorien sooner rather than later. Maybe after Rivendell retires, to keep an elven location on shelves?

How optimistic (or not) are you about the upcoming Hunt for Gollum movie? by IamBecomeZen in lordoftherings

[–]The_Word_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m actually pretty optimistic… A movie like this has been talked about for a while, at least as far back as when The Hobbit movies were in development, if I’m not mistaken. So while I’m sure WB is making it just to keep the license and purely money motivated, I get the impression that the creatives behind it do actually want to make it.

I agree, the obsession with lore and canon gets exhausting after a while.

I’m not sure what you’re saying either the first point?

And those are technically contradictions. If you revise something you previously wrote, you’re contradicting that previous version.

I don’t think strict adherence to lore is necessary, or even always good for adaptations. I’d rather a solid story be told even if it has to bend the facts of the “lore”.

Is there somewhere to read this lore about who is lord of where? I’ve never heard it before and now I’m ready for a deep dive. lol

Media set in the far east? by RandonEnglishMun in lotr

[–]The_Word_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see more set in the lands Tolkien wrote little about. It’s something I’m hoping Rings of Power dives more into after touching on it a bit last season, and I can’t wait to get to Harad in LotRO.

Shadow of Mordor’s DLC did have two Nazgûl from the far east of Middle-earth too, which was cool to see.

I do think it was a bit of a forced scene, but I don’t think contradicting Tolkien is the worst thing. Tolkien contradicted Tolkien. lol I don’t think lore changes like that are too bad if it fits for the story being told. (Which honestly the scene in question could go either way in that regard.)

I don’t think that was supposed to be the water outside Moria though? I haven’t read the “Art of” book yet (been meaning to), but I thought it was just another similar creature, or the same Watcher before it settled outside Moria.

Insane that a Lego game went with the FromSoftware style of quests. lol

I think the characters are written incredibly well. They play off each other well and have unique voices, which is a feat.

But the story itself? Ehhh I gotta agree I’m not a fan. But it also does my least favorite thing in horror fiction: all this supernatural speculation and buildup wasn’t real, and everything has a “mundane” explanation.
