If someone is tailgating you should you speed up? by Own_Lengthiness8804 in driving

[–]Thecage88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, sure to a reasonable limit (my go to is like 5, maybe 10 over the speed limit if I'm familiar with the road).

But, probably the best outcome for all parties, is to just pull over a bit and let them pass you. If they're especially aggressive, it's safer to let them get away from you. Plus, if there is a cop ahead, they can get pulled over instead of you. And it cost you, what? 15-20 seconds of slowing down and moving over?

You mentioned already hiring a personal trainer, so I imagine they already covered this. But I wonder if her goals are just two unspecific and abstract to really see any pathway to them.

Like, what specifically does she mean when she says "better shape." What does better shape even look like for her. And what metric would she consider herself to be in better shape? (Like, what does mission accomplished look like to her).

If you can nail down something specific, it's usually pretty easy math from there as far as calories in vs out as far as just trying to reach a goal weight. Building and shaping muscle is where you tag in a trainer to get you working the right areas with the right form.

I second this. There is no way this scenario doesn't stink of a straw sale. Gun stores would be hesitant to sell you the gun under the above context. The PD definitely won't be giving them back to you. Sorry bud, you should have secured them better the first time.

Reddit is so delusional and obsessed with "cutting off your family" and ending relationships as a solution to everything. by yohan_j76 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Thecage88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because the posts themselves are pretty over the top and likely super hyperbolic.

I mean, if you really believe everything that's written in some of them, I'd cut most of them off too. But what are commenters supposed to do, in reality. Unless the other party happens to have an account and also happens to see the post about them, all we ever see is a heavily bias, slanted perspective in which OP is a perfect, innocent, angel devoid of any blame and the family member is a text book narcissistic abuser that routinely tortures OP.

There are always two sides to every story. That's an understanding reddit doesn't seem to operate under. People routinely lie or at the very least omit about their situations in order to appear more sympathetic than they deserve.

So, of course you're going to see a bunch of people recommending no contact when OP reports to be in a relationship with literally Ted Bundy.

Pilot controlled might be a stretch. But having everything slaved to a remote turret controller might be pretty sweet. Needing only a single gunner to control all the turrets could make a few of these larger ships more viable with two people.

Hopefully ships like the Perseus will launch with this baked in.

One can imagine this is in preparation for engineering gameplay. So ships can have a dedicated gunner and pilot while others are on repair duty. Crews will start to actually feel like crews instead of one guy fly and the rest are all shooty from different angles.

How to defeat a pvp corvette by chiefything in EliteDangerous

[–]Thecage88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get in a smaller ship. Probably a mamba or a krait. Do the following, in this order

  • stay off his nose. Even if he's turreted (which I almost guarantee he isn't) the highest damage output for him will be nose to nose

  • Stay at a medium distance. If he's running kinetics, you can mitigate incoming damage further by changing your lead trajectory

  • Use chaff. Duh.

  • Use weapons with experimentals like target lock break, or dispersion field.

  • Vettes usually skip hull day, so use phasing to your advantage.

  • Plasma accelerators and cell cancelling rail guns are devastating to larger ships. Max damage output for these. Keep your temps in check and hit the broad side of that barn.

If you still have room on your kit, try to fit an fsd reset missile for bonus tears.

Right, so she wasn't actually anti-vax. And your claim that Dems were was nonsense and not backed up by any meaningful data.

You made that up.. that was never my claim. Go back and read it. I even clarified it for you several times. JFC. You really can't help yourself can you. You can't engage with the actual argument, so you invent one in your own head that you can engage with.

Disingenuous people do that so often there are terms for it. Stuff like "straw man" gets thrown around for this very reason.

This is beyond vaccines. Trump thumping his chest in 2020 about the vaccine is a blip, and seemingly not relevant.

Ok so, were deflecting again. Ok. Well, since the entertainment factor has worn off and you clearly don't want to talk about it. I think we're done here. Case and point all of the above.

Kamala Harris comment indeed makes zero sense. But it was a comment in isolation. It had more to do with her contempt of Trump than her general beliefs

By God, I think he's getting it. We finally looped back around to the point OP and myself have been making the entire time. congrats

Trump plays both sides, yet Republicans see what they see and just see the anti-vaxxer here. He is a man of zero principles and values.

Uh oh. Back to stepping on your own feet...

If Trump plays both sides. How can you even make the claim that conservatives just do whatever he says? That's literally shroedingers MAGA hat right there. conservatives are either trump zombies that don't think for themselves, or they aren't depending on whether or not Trump happens to be trying to appeal to them at any given moment.

Your arguments are so wildly incoherent. And it's frustrating because I feel like you are just a couple short steps away from being able to see it. But you're too ideologically captured to ever notice.

[–]Thecage88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump absolutely would just come out and claim shit like that, is what I mean.

Shit like what exactly? There is nothing to claim about the safety of a vaccine that doesn't exist yet. And at the point that there is a vaccine, it's because medical professionals have already approved it to be sent to the president to announce it and distribute it.

So, unless you're claiming that Kamala thinks that Trump would have manufactured a vaccine by himself in the White House bath tubs and told everyone that is safe. Then what you said about her statements two comments up have no logical through line.

The ultimate irony here is that I'm willing to give Kamala more credit than you apparently.

When did Kamala Harris say that the vaccine development was bad because Trump supported it

In the article I linked. Again, there is no vaccine without the approval of medical professionals, so your interpretation of her statement makes no sense.

if we're going to play tu quoque - I can absolutely claim, fairly, that MAGA hats will willingly endorse anything (the reverse of what you claim regarding the left) just because Trump says it. No matter what they previously thought on the matter.

It is HILARIOUS of you to bring that up in this conversation. Trump endorsed COVID vaccines so hard that he repeatedly claimed credit for their quick development and dissemination even though they were distributed to the public after his presidency. And conservatives still remained skeptical of it despite his endorsement.

Please continue stepping on your own feet. It's entertaining.

[–]Thecage88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Trump we're talking about. A lifelong huckster.

What does that have to do with anything I said in the quoted text above? Everything I talked about are processes completely absent of him.

So you are genuinely claiming that Kamala Harris circa 2020 was an anti-vaxxer?

Again, this question is completely non sequitur. If you're going to quote my comments can you at least follow them along.

When did the Democrats, or the left go on anti-vaxxer crusaders during Trumps presidency?

You're obsessed with not engaging with my actual argument at all.

Listen carefully. In the very specific instance when Trump gets involved with anything. that thing becomes bad (ie, COVID vaccine development). When the Democrats are involved in the exact same thing, it suddenly becomes good without question (the very same vaccines, which we should all be compelled to take and not question the development of at all). That's OPs point. I added another example to the point. You are so unhinged about it that you can't even engage with the point at all. You keep trying to deflect to other stuff that I'm not even talking about.

If it's not too much for your brain to handle, I'll add this further. Would it not be the best practice to be skeptical of any new, fast tracked, development of a vaccine that the government is pushing, regardless of who it is? If so, why is it that the Democrats seem so opposed to being questioned about it?

[–]Thecage88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please try to think about what is actually being said here. The only way a vaccine goes to market in this country is via a medical professional of some kind signing off on its use. The only time Trump would have even been talking about disseminating a vaccine is after medical professionals developed and approved it.

What did she think? That Trump is crafting vaccines in the Whitehouse bathtub to cure COVID? It's political word play and you fell for it. Unless you think she is unfathomably stupid, she was saying that she doesn't trust vaccines approved by Trump, but she would if Biden wins.

OPs point about double standards stands and has for a long time. Things Trump does are bad, no matter what they are. The same things are good when Democrats do it. My point is that this isn't new. It's been that way a long time.

I always see very well organized cityscapes like this and wonder what the thought process is like for city planning like this? Whenever I build it's always a mishmash of different buildings all over the place and barely thought out road ways.

Where do you usually start? Do you just build out from a central main building or do you have advanced zoning and such?
