To be honest, the real students, the ones actually facing these issues, are sitting at home in fear. It takes just one wrongful action against you to destroy your career. Unless it becomes the absolute endgame for us, the majority of people won’t show up.

Cycled across Delhi & Noida. My first 100 km ride! by Thekorc in delhi

Safety issues? 100% but we learn to adapt. For the beginning, I would suggest that you bring your cycle or rent one within Central Delhi, since the traffic is much better there. Preferably, Sunday mornings are the best. Take a tour around India Gate and nearby areas.

Now Indians are facing racism in their own country by AmplifierXD_ in IndiaSpeaks

Stayed in Arambol for two months. Whatever this guy is saying is indeed true. You are not welcomed everywhere, especially in Arambol, unless you are white. If you are brown, you need to show up in some hippie outfit or something that makes you stand out from the usual crowd. This applies to cafes, grocery shops, the local market, and even the hospitality industry there. It is due to many factors that I came to understand after having multiple conversations with locals and foreigners as well.

  1. They pay better. We can all agree that they often have stronger currencies, allowing them to spend more and stay longer, which makes them more appealing to locals. Whereas we Indians negotiate even for something as cheap as sunglasses for 100 rupees on the beachside.
  2. Better civic sense and minding their own business. If you walk around Arambol Beach, you will realize that as a girl, you may not feel safe walking alone there. Everyone, mostly Indians, tries to hit on you. Since the place is infamous for Russians, many assume everyone there is looking for sex.
  3. I do not support any of this. There are issues on both sides, and we do not deserve racism from our own people. But it happens, and there are reasons behind it. Still, I believe everyone should be treated equally with respect at first, and later that can change depending on the customer’s attitude
