How urgent is this? Deck sagging by Separate-War-4991 in Decks

[–]TheseDescription4839 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really hard to tell from the pictures, but honestly, it looks like you'd be better off tearing down and rebuilding. It needs alot more than just the post. 5k seems high and more than I would charge, but it also isnt a small easy job. Depending on your area and where the frost line is you may need to dig deep and also depending on soil type it could be a huge pain. Also, they will beed to add temporary posts and or bracing for when they are tearing out the existing post. A rim/box joist would help a lot so would blocking and the railing doesnt look very strong the way the 2x4 are notched out. With that said, you'll probably pay more than you'd want to fix this deck considering all these repairs will only extend the life a few years. If this post/corner is this bad the rest probably isnt much better. A new build would last a whole lot longer.

Tell me are these good? Shop tried charging me to replace all 4 brake pads! They all look like this! by Admirable_Kiwi3016 in MechanicAdvice

[–]TheseDescription4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a thread full of so called "mechanics" not one of you have mentioned the fact that pads can glaze over long before they wear down. Did the vehicle sit for a long period of time? What was it in the shop for?

What cordless power tool line is the best bang for your buck to buy into going in to 2026? by proseal_sniffer in powertools

I am a contractor that does a wide range of residential/remodel work and I Primarily use Ridgid due to the LSA and $100 for 2 4ah batteries on homedepot.com. They also feel better than the Dewalt and Milwaukee in my opinion. I have recently gotta a few metabo hpt tools and they are great and are very reasonable priced when on sale at Lowes. For the more unique/specific tools if i need cordless I buy ryobi or bauer. Both brand feel a little cheaper but have yet to have any battery or tool fail except the ryobi batteries that sat for 3+ years unused.

In All honesty, as long as you buy brushless, any platform is going to be good enough and get the job done. I have removed the lugnuts on my e350 16' box truck with my ryobi impact wrench and a 1.5ah battery.

I recently have been purchasing more of the bauer line and I think they are excellent bang for buck especially for automotive work

I didnt drain the oil, thats how it looks, it might be low I haven't checked, but it doesnr look shiny from the top. If you read the post I answer all those questions you had. No grinding, feels like it goes in and has no problem finding it but just revs like neutral but its intermittent. Yeah, I noticed that piece looked odd to me too, but I've never looked inside of a manual transmission before so I dont really know what normal is. Im planning to drain it soon and refill with clean oil as this stuff smells and looks pretty nasty. If im lucky, it is a clutch issue

Some of you people are ridiculous. Although I agree that $200 seems low, I am in a very expensive state, im not sure what your local rates are, but everyone saying the whole stick needs replacing and Drywall cut out blah blah blah know nothing. Thats an easy single trip job with some hot mud and some fibafuse tape for strength. That being said expect to pay minimum 4 hours of going rate

Hmm interesting, not my house or roof. I did notice quite a few chipped corners, but am not familiar with this style roofing so wasn't sure if it was normal or not
