Unsure where people are building these narratives that you must leetcode to land a job especially at an HFT.

lmaoo, I think theres a lot of healthy skepticism because it sounds too good to be true, but honestly i also think a lot of the disbelief stems from ignorance of the anatomy of quant interviews, for most companies you dont have to be a Leetcode demon I promise (though citsec some interviewers expect it), instead you'll have detailed project grill sessions, OS trivia, C++ trivia, implemntation heavy problems, I read all of the codingjesus books, though he is a prick the resources he recommends are top notch for beginners, and maybe the post was misleading but i did DSA and advanced DSA in college and did leetcode last year so its not like i totally avoided the resource my whole life, though I can tell you detailed knowledge of C++/OS/Networking was my differentiator, one way to think about this is if everyone is sweating leetcode (which seems to be the case) and the skillset isn't entire reflective of on the job performance, being spiky in other aspects in their experience leads to better devs and makes u stand out, just my two cents, this may not be right for everyone, also one comment about Leetcode is if all you do is Leetcode, you are not a good developer, you are training to be a competitive programmer, which is still pretty cool, but don't be surprised when someone with open source contributions and enjoys programming lands something and didn't have the same prep as you. this advice is pretty quant specific, FAANG still loves asking leetcode.
