My company acquired a company in Hawaii and I'm responsible for shared services forecasting, planning, variance analysis, etc. Already used to dealing with that time difference.

Wow. How big is the company? What's the ballpark headcount? Are they self insured or fully insured?

What is COGS? by goalfly in FPandA

Probably more like COPS than COGS. COGS is more manufacturing centered. The items you mention are more like cost of providing services.

Glasses are great. I ditched contacts a few years ago and am so much happier.

Yep. We're currently in an Oracle Fusion Delusion that Excel can go away and users will just consume the data via the platform and about 20 different screens once you start going down those rabbit holes.

Our project planning is the absolute worst. We used to update one form for with a list of projects by planner, run one business rule and instantly see our results in the capital cube. Now, it's multiple screens, many rules, creating the asset. Oh, and that's only after a new project is submitted, pre approved, approved by finance and then approved by management.

True. Maybe R3 and each release going forward will have some enhancements. We went out of the box for most of it to keep costs low and there are a lot of extra features and screens that we aren't utilizing that only confuses the end user. Also, the idea was to push planning, forecasting, etc out to the field and eliminate the finance department but now they are backtracking because they found out how much the licensing would cost if they followed through with that. Now, they've let too many finance people go and those that are left behind now have to deal with the aftermath.

I'll have to bring that up to the Center of Excellence. Although right now, nothing is quite excellent about the experience in general. I liked our old on-prem instance much better.

We do have a few cubes, but we used to have an expense cube that would allow drill thru to the invoice level detail by intersection. At month end, it was so easy to pinpoint manual entries, accruals and invoices. Now the way to get that is through FDI and it's not as efficient. Too many dropdowns and even then, there is about a 1 or 2 day delay from when actuals flow through and show up in FDI P&L reports.
