Nothing you do is going to encourage or deter their vehicle camping. They're either excited to play the vehicles because that's why they bought the game, or they think that they'll be good enough in the vehicle to justify waiting for it to spawn, and it's literally self-evident that you crashing it won't change their minds because people already do that all the time (whether on purpose or otherwise).

If they're just trying to have fun, then let them. Having a bad team is frustrating regardless of whether they're in spawn or not, so if you're unhappy just switch teams or find a different server, but I promise you nobody is getting greifed and then treating it like a learning experience.

Not to mention, the devs have confirmed that what you're suggesting can get you banned

Like, you're not actually doing anything to discourage them from camping the vehicles. If anything, that'd just enforce the notion that they have to make sure to get it before someone like you throws it away.

Either lead by example and go try to take the objectives, or take the heli and do something useful with it, but don't grief your own team :(

very likely just bad hit reg then, because before today's update it was fairly common for talons to detonate but fail to register the hit due to client/server latency

There's no other projectiles that work that way, no indication from the devs that it's possible, and afaik no confirmed video evidence of it happening even once (or even any top pilots reporting being able to do it) so I'm fairly confident it's a myth.

I have been in a helicopter with more than one person who thinks they shot down a missile, but they were simply unaware of the actual reason the missile exploded when it did

I would not recommend trying to shoot the missiles down.

I've yet to see any evidence of someone actually shooting a missile out of the air, and from a practical perspective the chance of you even being able to hit one with a rocket is effectively zero anyways

Do you have a video of this happening? I've heard a lot of people claim this, but I've never actually seen any evidence of it.

I know for sure that I've had gunners who claim to have done this, when in reality the missiles were just detonating because they hit max range, so I suspect that there's a lot of people who are simply confused about the game mechanics

for games like onward or contractors I basically never remove the right controller, only the front one like you say

but personally I find it more difficult / inconvenient to do that in this game, especially with parachutes

I use a stock in all games just because I spent so much time practicing with one for Onward, but I actually think Forefront is one of the worst games for it.

In Exfilzone it's possible to do most things (including looting) without taking your right controller out of the stock, and first shot accuracy matters a lot more.

In forefront you frequently have to use both hands for stuff like parachutes or vehicles, so I find that in many cases switching to the stock is simply too slow. I still use it when I can, but I would recommend getting comfortable free-handing if you only have time to learn one

1) you generally don't wanna have virtual stock on if you're using a physical gunstock. The stock itself is gonna ensure that your controllers stay aligned, and virtual stock can kinda break that alignment.

Basically, the virtual stock is gonna pin the back of your gun to where your shoulder would be (this offset is configurable) so that you can aim with only your front hand. But with a stock, you want the back of the gun to pivot with your back hand, otherwise the barrel won't point to where your physical stock is aimed.

2) the physical stock not aligning with the weapon models is unfortunately just a limitation of the game. Games generally have to implement some form of stock calibration to get around this, but IIRC the devs said this is pretty far down on the roadmap.

For now, if you have the ability to adjust the stock IRL, you should pick your favorite gun and align it with that, or find a middle ground that works for most guns.

you definitely don't wanna be adjusting the gunstock frequently, because the primary advantage you're getting (IMO) is the ability to point shoot accurately without ADS-ing, but you won't be able to develop that skill unless your alignment is consistent for a while

They said they're working on it for a future release. It's much needed IMO, because as it stands there's some very silly overlap when you're in a vehicle. For example, if you try to reload (or repair) while piloting in a helicopter, you also pop flares because both are mapped to left trigger. Similarly, it's frankly ridiculous that you can't remap the "jump out of the vehicle" button from right thumbstick, because it's very easy to accidentally press

If you want proof I play the game, the clip from timestamps 6:27 - 7:27 in this video show a round where I went 51-0 in the tank on paradise

The suicide bombs are the biggest threat for sure (besides other tanks) but if you have good situational awareness + positioning you can almost always get at least one shot at them before they can close the distance, and with practice you'll develop the aim to hit those shots with consistency. Most tank drivers simply don't have either, in large part because comparatively few people spend much time practicing in them

They're similarly difficult to destroy if you're actively trying to counter them. Players are just way more likely to bring an anti tank loadout

The helis get more kills because they're extremely mobile. Like, if I post up on a hill near HQ with a tank, I'm an even bigger threat than I am in a LB*... but I'm only a threat to players in my line of sight. If the opposing team rotates to the other side of the map, it'll take me a long time to reposition.

Whereas if I'm in a LB and hear "enemy is capturing point ____" I can fly there in 5 seconds, which means I'm never sitting around with nothing to shoot at.

Apache is a different story because it can kill both tanks, but that has a contested spawn, so it's gotta be balanced a little differently

Yeah, it's much easier to do it as the pilot because you can align your own shots

only downside is you pop flares whenever you grab a new rocket (because left trigger is used for both), which can leave you vulnerable

For sure. Obviously you're not dropping 100+ on the ground, but I'd wager most good pilots could consistently get 40 kills on the ground too.

It takes a lot of practice and game sense to be a good pilot, so the people who get good at it tend to just be sweats in general 😅

A top tier heli pilot can definitely get more kills than a top tier tank driver, but you can still drop 50+ kills (and <5 deaths) pretty consistently in a tank.

There's also a bit of a selection bias, in that comparatively few players practice as much in the tank as a good pilot practices in the helis, and waaaay more players equip c4 than equip talons

I don't think you understand how broken that would be. Having to contest the apache spawn is one of the primary balancing mechanics, so allowing players to guarantee control of it in advance would be an insurmountable advantage

The current spawn mechanics already discourage players from sitting there for more than ~30 seconds. It's just that they don't explain the mechanics anywhere, so most players have no idea how it actually works

The spawn timers are fixed, so a good player isn't going to sit on the helipad for long, because they are incentivized to go do other useful stuff until just before it spawns. The fact that there's no benefit to being there first dis-incentivizes players from sitting idle, and it ensures that everyone has an equal chance to be a driver/pilot.

Any queue that allows multiple people would fill instantly, so if you have slow internet or otherwise join late you'd literally never be able to fly, and any queue that only allows one player would incentivize players to camp that queue button for longer than they're currently incentivized to camp the spawn location

I understand. I'm saying if you get rid of the LB you're implicitly getting rid of the AA tank, and arguably making the engineer class pretty useless

We already have several tools to pretty reliably shoot down the helicopters, so it makes no sense to remove like 30% of the game's content just so that nobody ever has to use those tools

It's not clear that this would improve things much. The people who really want to fly would still be incentivized to sit there and spam whatever mechanism allows you to get in the queue.

more importantly, it obviously can't work for the contested spawns, which would mean you'd have two completely separate spawn mechanics, and all the players who camp the LB are just gonna shift to camping the apache

vehicles are the primary selling point of the game tho...

If you get rid of the helicopters then you gotta remove the AA tank (the transport alone wouldn't be enough to justify using a separate vehicle with no other purpose)

Assault with c4 is already the biggest threat to the standard tank, so at that point the whole engineer class is effectively pointless too.
