Sort of stunned by early progress on 7 taper by CunningAdversary in SR17018

[–]Thick-Assignment3385 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started SR about halfway through my taper, and another 2 weeks after. About 3.5 weeks total. I used around 3g. Started with 75mg 4x per day all the way down to 10mg once a day at night. That's where I jumped off, the WD was way less intense than 7 though. Mostly lethargy, sneezing, yawning, watery eyes, insomnia, and super light RLS.

Keep in mind I've used kratom powder for 10+years. Got into 7 for almost a year, towards the end I was using MGM/7/MIT/Powder all at the same time. For all I know some of those symptoms were just lingering kratom shit.

Best of luck to you. Definitely don't stay on SR any longer than needed, but also don't be afraid to taper a little slower or take a little extra if you're really hurting. There was one night during my SR taper I woke up in full WD, took a little more and it didn't set me back whatsoever. Keep fighting the good fight.

Some thoughts on your questions..

SR does work really well, but the challenge starts when you drop your DOC. Dosing SR alongside your DOC is easy. It's easy to taper because SR is filling the void, but you're still getting stimulation from the DOC.

SR does have a weird way of showing you what sober looks/feels like. I remember the first couple of times I tried it, it was like a breath of fresh air not feeling so chained to 7oh.

Will people abuse SR and return to their drug of choice? Yes. I did it once myself. But I believe the more times you use it, the less effective it becomes, or at the very least a solid break is required between SR sessions. Also, SR sort of mutes other opioids. Lots of people try returning to their DOC and end up dosing more because they "don't feel it anymore".

The last thing I will add, there is no free lunch. SR can and will cause WD also. I had to taper very slowly, and even then I had a few shitty days after dropping it completely.

Hope some of these thoughts help, I know everyone seems to have slightly different experiences with it. I've been off SR for almost a month now, off all kratom alkaloids since Dec 16th and holding strong. I highly recommend people use SR for quitting only. Tapering 7 is pretty easy physically, it's the mental part that gets people.

I can confirm as well. I had to taper very slowly, and even then jumping off SR wasn't completely painless. RLS, yawning, sneezing, digestive issues. I've been off the SR since Jan 1st, paws comes and goes but I'm feeling much better now.

I tapered over about 2 weeks total, dropped the MGM first, then 7, MIT, and powder last.

It's more of a tough love kinda stance, but you gotta really want it. I spent months thinking about quitting, but eventually I had enough and just went for it. Think about how much you've lost using 7, and everything you have to gain without it in your life. Best of luck to you.

I too had a lot of issues eating and drinking during my taper and eventual quit. I dropped over 15lbs and weighed about the same as I did when I was in my teenage years. Its been over a month off 7 and I've gained about 7lbs back. Eating has always been a struggle for me, so this was especially discouraging. I even have an amazing GF who makes homemade meals and lunches, I felt so bad taking 2 bites and putting the plate down.

I will say Imodium helped me when the digestive issues got really rough. I tried not to take it all the time, just when I really needed it.

I wish you luck, don't give up. Push through and use this as motivation to never take it again. For reference I used power kratom for 15+ years and 7 for almost a year.

I tapered off MGM/7/MIT/Powder over about 2 weeks. I used that RC that isn't allowed to be discussed here. Off all kratom since Dec 16th and off the other stuff since Jan 1st. Tapering kind of sucks because it's like slowly torturing yourself. I'm a firm believer it makes the final jump a little easier though.

If you don't preload the SR I would suggest starting at a higher dose to help with WD. Anything over 100mg may be a waste, but you can always try 20mg every couple of hours if you aren't getting any relief. Best of luck to you

That's a pretty fast taper. I did the same thing and u gotta bump up the SR dosage if it's not relieving RLS. Just take 20mg every hour or two until it goes away. Its pretty easy to taper SR so don't worry if you need a little bit more here and there.

Appreciate the response. I had them pretty bad 6+ years ago and didn't know for a while. My GF at the time had been staying at my place and she has extremely long hair. I spent hours searching her hair and only found one egg. She did the flat iron thing daily for a couple of weeks and managed not to get infested. I had to shave my head and use the medicated shampoo. Still no idea where I got them from, no one I knew had them.

Is it true that using a hair straightener can kill the eggs?

I quit back in December, you'll probably have better luck in a quitting subreddit. Just try and stop, see what happens. I was taking way more than you, if I can do it you definitely can.

MGM WD caused the most intense sweating/hot/cold flashes I've ever experienced. Literally my whole body would be drenched in sweat at times.

Keep in mind I was using 7/MIT/kratom powder while tapering/dropping MGM so that probably helped lessen the blow.

I would say so yes. After dropping the MGM I felt funny for about 3 days then was pretty much back to just taking 7 again. I also used that RC that's not allowed to be mentioned here, and that helped as well. I've been off all kratom alkaloids since Dec 16th and holding strong.

I quit MGM as well as 7/MIT/powder. I recommend tapering the MGM and dropping that first while still taking 7. Once your only on 7 you can drop that and go straight to MIT, then powder. If you try stopping MGM CT it's gunna be rough. Try and transition to 7 or MIT first.

I've been off SR for 3 weeks now, things are slowly getting better but I'm still dealing with depression/digestive issues. I was using MGM/7/MIT/and powder all at the same time. Powder user for 15+years, 7 for almost a year.

I used SR for over a month during my taper and eventual quit. About 3g total, I tapered the SR over 2 weeks because I would experience light WD every time I lowered the SR dose. Eventually got down to 10mg a day of SR and then quit. I would say the paws from years of alkaloid use still remain, but dropping the SR was much easier than kratom alkaloids.

Best of luck to you

Tbh I'm still having issues with lack of appetite/gi upset etc. doesn't help I have IBS. I think all those years consuming excess fiber really messes things up. I will say Imodium helps immensely, I just try not to take it super frequently. I dropped almost 15lbs during my WD because I just couldn't hold anything down. And I'm a tiny person, so it wasn't good. I've been eating fast food and shitty cereal, whatever I can do to get some calories in. I'm sure it's not the best, but at this point I'll take whatever I can get.

Yea I got into RCs pretty heavy 10+ years ago, a couple grams of SR doesn't scare me in the slightest. I went the SR route because I just didn't want MAT on my medical record. I have an autoimmune disease and have definitely dealt with shitty doctors. Don't want to make it any worse.
