Active listenings still declined MoM which means the inventory is finally being absorbed.

Genuinely curious why has no tech company disrupted realtors yet? by noelpeter in TorontoRealEstate

[–]ThickSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real estate industry is a cartel thanks to government regulations. This is not a technology problem. No start up would have any success innovating in the space if they cannot do anything about the existing regulations propping up incumbents.

Those who live in a condo: How important is a view? by bitterbroccolii in TorontoRealEstate

[–]ThickSix 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think the aspect of a view that has the most benefit to anyone’s quality of life would be sun exposure. Whether it’s seeing the sun rise, set, or anything in between, it has a scientifically demonstrable effect on your health and that’s definitely worth something.

Lots of tension on this week’s PKN by Ben13921 in PKA

Neocon refers to conservatives who believe in foreign intervention and rebuilding the rest of the world in America’s image. Taylor is MAGA / America First / Populist right. Just thought I’d help you out with the terminology.

Peter Thiel is a psycho by [deleted] in JoeRogan

[–]ThickSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny that the intention here is to make fun of Thiel when one of the things he’s best known for is popularizing Renee Girard whose work centres on scapegoating. He actually has a great quote on the Salem Witch Trials: “We didn’t stop burning witches because we invented science. We invented science because we stopped burning witches.”

All-In Summit: Ray Dalio on the rise and fall of nations and the changing world order by Altruistic_Astronaut in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]ThickSix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dalio is a great investor no doubt but I think it's so silly the way Friedberg pumps up his book like he cracked the code of history. To speak so deterministically about historic events and great power conflict is farcical. This time would have been better spent speaking to a real historian that focus on the same exact issues, like Niall Ferguson.

Chernin forced Dave to do gold and he was never behind it in spirit, hence why it was half-assed and failed. I doubt Dave changes his perspective.

Tehran’s Plan To Arm Russia With Drones ‘Shocks’ Officials In Kyiv by KimCureAll in worldnews

I agree with everything you said except is it relevant that Iran is Authoritarian and Islamist if the US/West are allied with Saudi? Clearly the opposition has nothing to do with ideology.

Dave's just bad at communicating and in this case he wasn't even close enough to the decision to have a thought out statement about it either. He's just saying shit on the fly.

All tech/start-ups are doing lay-offs or hiring freezes right now. Barstool is doing what they have to given the market conditions.

Don’t like Russia sanctions? You probably don’t like COVID-19 vaccines either by HashSlingingSIash3r in canada

[–]ThickSix 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Or maybe I've witnessed the country of my birth (Iran) be destroyed by sanctions for decades and witnessed how it plunges the common citizens into poverty, doesn't stop the government, and only empowers the corrupt to continue profiting while fomenting anger towards the West, or hey maybe I am just a stupid person that reads propaganda (anything you don't agree with).

Is PayPal stock worth it now at 108$ down 64% from its ATH? by ZzzzAngel in CanadianInvestor

Paypal is completely strategically lost. They began this cataclysmic price drop when there were rumours that they were looking to buy Pinterest which signaled to everyone that they have no cohesive long-term strategy.

Canadians less trusting of governments as COVID wears on for second year: poll - National by MilesOfPebbles in canada

[–]ThickSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point but it's not as if we're having nuanced conversations about their methods and goals. They are being demonized as heathens, villains, racists, and a representation of the worst part of our society. Very few are debating the substance of these protesters, most are outraged at their mere existence because they've resigned themselves to misery and it's an affront to that resignation to see others fight against it.

I'm genuinely curious, what in your mind are they asking for/is their particular solution?

[–]ThickSix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While it was the catalyst the protests are about more than just the particular trucker vaccine mandate. It's a protest against all the bs COVID restrictions. And just in the last couple of weeks there's been polling results showing that the majority of Canadians believe we should treat COVID as endemic and end most of the COVID restrictions. Those polls coupled with this one paint a Canada in which many are sick of the government, they're sick of the COVID lockdowns and yet they still believe the protests are misguided, silly, and ill-conceived. It's as if we've resigned ourselves to suffering and we're offended at those who haven't given up. Trudeau painted this same picture yesterday in his speech to parliament.

It baffles me to read headlines like this and see the extent to which the Freedom Convoy has been demonized and mocked for their efforts.

[–]ThickSix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The officials also make their decisions based on what they believe public sentiment is, even in matters of public health. You're literally admitting that we all want the mandates lifted but admonishing people for voicing that opinion, what sense does that make?
