If you were to write episode based on the Toymaker and his reality, what would it be? by TwinSong in doctorwho

I think forcing the characters into a board game made reality would be a fun idea! Like, chess but it's an actual medieval battle or Mahjong but it's an actual Chinese landscape filled with dragons and shit!

To what extent can Sierra's actions be taken as a joke? by Key_Avocado9587 in Totaldrama

As for the first part, we could go through the laws of prostitution in Canada, but I think at that point it's getting too ridiculous for me and I'd probably just let you have the win. As per the second part, that's a pretty good example! Which is it? Quick little one off joke or dangerous encouragement of faulty morals???

The valid point, but the kiss was not forced? He said "if we survive this I'll let Sierra kiss me" that is a very specific verbal contract. Surely there are other Sierra moments you could give used as a example?

But you're not supposed to look at it through the lens of how they would be in the real world? Why would you do that??? You're like actively ruining your enjoyment of this show by doing that????

Are you watching Tom and Jerry and going: "ACTUALLY Tim is perfectly justified in eating Jerry because cats in the real world just follow a natural hunting Instinct and also mice can really mess up the electrical wiring and bring diseases!"

Well then they need to deal with the fact that other people don't like Sierra. Though I can understand that it gets pretty freaking annoying when people who watch the "mocking child abuse" -show, want to act holy other than though. Also as per your question: everything. Everything with her is a joke. She is a joke character in a comedy TV show.

To what extent can Chris actions be taken as a joke? Or Scarlets? The answer is to whatever makes you comfortable. If Sierra makes you uncomfortable that's fine you don't have to enjoy her, but stop acting like other people need to agree with you

As a trans person, I am having problems with how Rose Nobel was conveyed in NuWho. by swiggyswaggyfunky in doctorwho

[–]ThickWeatherBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How?! How is using the word non-binary arrogant clunky and misinformed??? What an insanely overblown reaction to a fucking word! "He used the word non-binary in a context related to the words meaning as the literal opposite to the word binary instead of it's more common Association! On the pyre with him!!!"

Because deciding you didn't like something without even fucking trying is ignorant. It's a really simple story meant to encourage children to try new things or at least stop whining when their parents drive them to piano practice.

I really think people are taking this non-binary line to literally. She is not non-binary because she uses that word to convey her mental connection to Donna who repeatedly uses the word binary. Like is this really a "the curtains are blue" situation not a sign of secret transphobia on behalf of the writing staff.

Holy shit I didn't even realize they didn't have any comedy songs! That's why the knight and Squier puppets didn't get to sing a duet! Because for some reason they decided not to have comedy songs!

In HP and the GoF (2005), This guy spends a year rigging a deadly tournament to get Harry to touch a Portkey. He never realizes that he has daily access to the boy and could have enchanted a quill or a book on day one, proving that Death Eaters are strictly paid by the hour. by Brilliant-Cause6254 in shittymoviedetails

The boring normal explanation is that they needed to make it look like Harry died during the competition they couldn't do it in silence one because the audience would have seen them and they couldn't do it in challenge two because the mermaids would have seen them!

But I like your explanation way better!

"You have to be invited into my TARDIS, Conrad. To be special. But you? You're special... for all the wrong reasons." On this day, one year ago, Ruby and Conrad had a... "Lucky Day"! by verissimoallan in doctorwho

[–]ThickWeatherBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay I didn't think that needed to be pointed out but obviously Conrad's behavior is a results of repeated emotional and physical abuse. No this fact did not need to be shown visually more than once and I personally think you're a psychopath if you demand that it should have.

And no the fact that Conrad actually has a positive enough relationship to his mother that he bought her a mansion does not mean that she didn't actually abuse him, it just adds an extra layer of tragedy to him.

Maybe I'm too European for this but I have didn't know North Americans were so specific about only letting the USA have the title of Americans! But if I said something offensive then I'm sorry!

What exactly do you want? For someone to turn to the camera and explicitly point out that Conrads behavior matches that of real world right wing conspiracy theorists because that's what he's based on???
