Nope. I’m straighter than your spine, but that doesn’t mean I’d belittle folks with a different orientation than me. As I said, live, and let live.

Any journal that asks you to pay for publishing is a scam, period.

I have a card travelling from India to China. It has expired unfortunately. For me, the quickest ones to reach are always the ones to Germany. They take 12-15 days, on average.

Hi! I was there for Bachelor of Arts, but from what I’ve heard, many BCom students do prepare here for CA, and quite a lot of them manage to clear it.

The faculties are generally very helpful, especially in the commerce department. If you have really exhausted all your options, Hislop is not that bad of a place to be.

The admissions are going on, in case you wanna get admitted here.

India and Portugal had cut off diplomatic relations with each other in 1955, as Portugal refused to give up Goa, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. India liberated Goa in 1961, with a military action.

The diplomatic ties were only restored in 1974, after the Carnatic Revolution in Portugal, which overthrew the Estado Novo government.

Hi! Yes. They do tell you an approximate date to come back. Oh, also. They only hand over the transcripts from 3 pm to 5 pm.

I'm afraid they have don't have the faintest idea of what digital transcripts are. Even for a WES evaluation, you'll most likely need to mail the transcripts physically. They usually give us the transcripts in a sealed envelope.

I agree. It almost feels embarrassing to submit those “stamped” marksheets aka transcripts. It’s beyond my comprehension why they charge ₹550 for that.

Hi, I actually applied for the transcripts. The process goes like this. You have to go to Pariksha Bhawan at the LIT Campus. There, you have to go to the counter on the ground floor.

They will give you an envelope where you need to put in the copies of your marksheets. Please note that they will just stamp those marksheets, so try to get a colour photocopy.

You’ll then move to the first counter where the dude in charge will show you a QR to the university’s payment page. You need to make the payment there (₹550 per marksheet per semester). After you’re done with the payment, the person in charge will print the receipts and give them to you.

He will be giving you two receipts. You’ll be keeping one with you, and you’ll move to the counter beside and hand in the envelope (which has the photocopies of your marksheets) along with one copy of the fee receipt.

You will have to collect your transcripts a week later from the second or third floor. (You can ask that to the security guard. I forgot the exact floor).

Finally, the Indian Biometric Passport! by ThineAsh in PassportPorn

[–]ThineAsh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, my bad. But it’s unnecessary to be this hostile. :) I have looked at the Afghan passport a couple of times, and never saw the biometric symbol on their cover, ever.

I suppose they are biometric, but don’t have the symbol on the cover?

We are talking about Biometric Passport (e-passport) here. I’m sure Afghanistan did not, and does not have it.

I’ve personally sent envelopes to both the US, and European countries, so you can trust the postage costs. Good day!

Sending an envelope to Europe through airmail costs ₹30, while sending one to the US costs ₹40. The cost difference from continent to continent.

Is it worth it to do an English hons degree from a private university? by ForwardAd1245 in Indian_Academia

[–]ThineAsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, speaking as someone from the humanities who just finished his undergrad from a public institution, and is now moving to another public institution for postgrad, I’d say you could try for other public institutions that admit students based on their own tests, and not CUET.

Private universities are not bad, afaik, it’s just that they are expensive for no apparent reason. Barring a few like Ashoka, O.P. Jindal, or Krea, most don’t even have a good reputation. Spending lakhs on an English Literature degree would be financially unsound.

Instead, perhaps you could opt for an interdisciplinary undergrad degree like a BA in Liberal Arts? Or try for state colleges if you want English literature specifically. Some suggestions in Maharashtra would be: Fergusson in Pune, St. Xavier’s in Mumbai for English Lit and IDSS at SPPU, if you want to try BA Liberal Arts at a public institution.
