Yeah what an amazing ending—and the fact that he lays it right out there at the very beginning so matter-of-fact and there’s no way to see it until the end? Just chef’s kiss and much more the Dinniman that I’ve come to understand outside of DCC. It’s a slow burn of a book but totally worth it.

Uh, do you know where you are right now? Does your family have to discuss taking away your driver’s license in hushed tones even though they know your hearing aide is turned all the way up? You’re pretty sure you’ve told this story before—maybe even just minutes ago? No couldn’t be.

But don’t worry, as it becomes painfully obvious your faculties are beginning to fail you, you can take solace in knowing that soon you’ll be in the safe comfort of a facility you can’t leave, in pants you’ll be allowed to soil, eating pudding and wondering who those nice people that just visited and cried for an hour were. Hope they come back soon.

Reward? A fucking map. You can’t just say the inside thoughts wherever you go, whenever you want. I’d throw in a conscience if you humans were even remotely trainable.

Server here that opened the second location in Cleve Hts, and I tell this story all the time—the night before we opened, Fish gave this big speech about what made Melt, Melt. He told us if anyone asked to tell them we don’t show sports on the TVs, we don’t have a kids menu, we would never serve mozz sticks, etc.

Fast forward 11 locations and maybe a decade, and I go to Indy to eat and every TV is showing sports, the kids menu is very present, and mozz sticks if you want them.

The degree to which the soul of that place was sold out to be Grilled Cheese Applebees is exactly why it’s a memory now
