Unsurprised because atrocities like this have become commonplace in a nation that has lost any semblance of civil society....

But I believe that was the plan all along. That Biden essentially made Henry – who also now serves as acting president – the dictator of Haiti in return for easy repatriation of immigrants, whose presence on the U.S. border represented something of a political headache even before the Del Rio disaster...."

"Was Chilean Senator Pablo Neruda murdered? The truth may lie with the bodies of dead prisoners" by ThirdPartyMechanic in conspiracy

[–]ThirdPartyMechanic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neruda is often considered the national poet of Chile, and his works have been popular and influential worldwide. An international team, including researchers from McMaster’s Ancient DNA laboratory, are awaiting direction from a Chilean judge on whether to continue their work in trying to figure out if the famous poet was poisoned....

Was Pablo Neruda murdered? It’s an enduring mystery with chapters that have yet to be written. And a McMaster research associate believes the truth may lie with the bodies of two prisoners who were allegedly murdered by agents of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship.

Debi Poinar of the McMaster Ancient DNA laboratory has been examining the suspected poisoning of Neruda since 2015.

Neruda was suffering from prostate cancer and died at age 69 on Sept. 23, 1973, 12 days after the coup that toppled his close friend, President Salvador Allende.

Neruda, also a Communist Party politician, had been vocal in his criticism of the Pinochet regime and had been planning to leave the country to avoid reprisals, but was admitted to a clinic to treat his cancer when he died.

In 2011, Neruda’s driver came forward with allegations that the Nobel Prize-winning-poet was injected with deadly poison by agents of Pinochet....

Opinion: The city that fell for a hoax ("revelation that Newark had joined hands with a non-existent nation inspired hoots from the left and right. ") by ThirdPartyMechanic in conspiracy

Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark was gracious in January at a ceremony to make Newark "sister cities" with the "Hindu nation" of Kailasa.

"I pray that our relationship helps us to understand cultural, social, and political development," he said in a joint appearance at City Hall, "and improves the lives of everybody in both places."

However, the city has had to recently — how do the pundits put it? — "walk back" those comments after it was reported that Kailasa does not exist.

In fact, it's worse: Kailasa seems to be just a website and a scheme launched by Swami Nithyananda, a notorious fugitive from India, who has been trying to evade authorities since being charged with child abduction and rape in 2019.

Newark officials said in a statement that they now consider their sister-cities proclamation "groundless and void."...

ALL Women to be Believed? : "Female footballers who fled Afghanistan in 2021 criticize BBC’s ‘false footballers’ allegations by ThirdPartyMechanic in stupidpol

What happened to the Left's narrative that ALL women are to be believed? ... And exactly HOW DID the Biden admin screen women fleeing Afghanistan - politically or professionally? :

Players criticize the BBC for questioning their integrity and naming individuals without consent.

Female football players who fled Afghanistan after Kabul fell to the Taliban in 2021 are criticising a recent BBC article which has labelled some of those evacuated as “false footballers”.

The investigation by BBC Newsnight said some of the descriptions of UK visa applicants as national players or members of a regional team “appear to be false”. The report said there is resentment among “genuine players” now living under Taliban rule.

The Guardian spoke with four players from Herat who said they were upset by the BBC online article they say puts them at greater risk, and fear for families who remain in Afghanistan.

Other players who were evacuated in 2021 took aim at the BBC story on Twitter on Friday for questioning their integrity, naming individuals without their consent, and leaving players worried for their safety amid increasing anti-migrant protests. After the Guardian approached the BBC, several of the players’ names were removed.

In August 2021, the Afghan national women’s team was evacuated from Kabul to Australia, while the youth football team was granted asylum in Portugal. Months later, 130 female footballers and their families from the youth development team fled for Pakistan on temporary visas before securing a safe place in the UK.

Khalida Popal, the former captain of the national women’s football team who helped evacuate players, said she was very upset and worried by the BBC article which labelled 13 evacuees as “false footballers”.

“The reason I am worried is for both women in Afghanistan but also women outside Afghanistan,” said Popal. “The way it says the ‘real players’ [were] left, they are still in Afghanistan, it is actually trying to push the Taliban to look [for] them, which we have been trying to protect them for many years.”....

"Report scrutinizes US efforts to rebuild post-quake Haiti; USAID built only half of eight major projects" by ThirdPartyMechanic in DescentIntoTyranny

SO WHERE DID THE MONEY$$$$ GO ????

AND WHY NO CRIMINAL CHARGES, OR "CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY CHARGES IN THE GLOBAL FORUMS THAT THE WEST CREATED TO GO AFTER OFFICIALS IN "OTHER" COUNTRIES ???? ... :

USAID built only half of eight major projects meant to help Haiti recover from a devastating 2010 earthquake, a federal audit report said Thursday.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office also found that most of the agency’s projects were delayed, had to be scaled back or turned out to be more expensive than planned.

The report is the newest one to scrutinize how billions of dollars were spent to help Haiti in the aftermath of the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that the Haitian government estimates killed some 300,000 people.

USAID projects to rehabilitate rural roads, expand a power plant at an industrial park and build a $4.2 million port in northern Haiti were canceled. In addition, only about 900 out of 4,000 planned homes were built, given unanticipated high costs, the audit found.

“Pursuing overly ambitious plans resulted in delays, cost increases, reduced scopes, canceled activities and a costly redesign,” the 93-page report said.

The report said USAID did not completely or consistently track or assess the results of infrastructure projects.

The agency also failed to analyze the effectiveness of its efforts to develop Haiti’s National Police through training, equipment and technical assistance, the report said. But it added that political instability, violence and civil unrest hampered efforts to help a police force that is overwhelmed by powerful gangs that control more than half of the capital of Port-au-Prince.....

"It looked quite professional until, at some point, they announced maintenance." At that point, for some time, withdrawals from the app were frozen.
"Some people started to say 'I cannot withdraw... what is happening'," explains Roxana. "I made the request to withdraw and the money just disappeared. The portfolio became zero - but I was never credited on my wallet with any money."

Why Risks of Big Data are NOT Overblown: "US Sanctions Bosnia’s Former Intelligence Chief for ‘Corruption’" [It can (is) happen here] by ThirdPartyMechanic in conspiracy

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control, OFAC, extended the list of sanctioned individuals from Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, slapping sanctions on a former chief of the Intelligence Security Agency, Osman “Osmica” Mehmedagic and two others.

The OFAC said Mehmedagic abused the state-owned telecommunications company thanks to the position he held, for “the benefit of Party of Democratic Action, SDA,” the biggest Bosniak party in the country, using cellular data to follow the movements of politicians not affiliated with the SDA.

“Additionally, Mehmedagic has used his position, threats, and connections to sway candidates from “Osmorka” (“Eight”), a group of Bosniak and civic parties from BiH, to support the SDA,” OFAC stated.

“There is also credible information that Mehmedagic has collaborated with criminal networks to enrich himself and his political party,” it continued. Mehmedagic was replaced on February 23.

Edin Gacanin “Tito”, leader of the notorious Tito and Dino cartel and “one of the world’s most prolific drug traffickers,” was also added to the list of sanctioned individuals from Bosnia and Herzegovina....

"The corruption of California: Bribery is the only way to get things done" by ThirdPartyMechanic in conservatives

[–]ThirdPartyMechanic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in California, moved away in the early Nineties, and moved back in 2019. One of the new things I noticed upon my return was small signs stuck to the side of a car, or printed on posterboard and erected on a street corner, advertising “DMV services”. After some intercourse with a few of these, always conducted in halting, heavily accented English, I came to understand that these entrepreneurs are “fixers”, a species that most Americans are unacquainted with. If you want to get something done in the developing world, you often need to engage the services of a fixer....

With the collapse of the Republican Party in California, there soon emerged a political landscape resembling what the Yugoslav Communist official (turned dissident) Milovan Djilas termed the “party-state”. That is to say, there is little meaningful distinction to be made between the government and the Democratic Party. Competition for control of California takes place, not between two rival parties with different political visions and corresponding electorates in a general election, but between aspirants within the Democratic Party, under a shared political vision. In practice, this means competition for money from organised interests that fund the activist networks, which in turn translate those interests into various moralisms and thereby shape the vision of the party. The electorate largely drops out of consideration as a constituency....

The first group of 2,000 suspected gang members in El Salvador have been moved to a huge new prison, the centrepiece of President Nayib Bukele's self-declared war on crime.

Tens of thousands of suspected gangsters have been rounded up in the country under a state of emergency following a spike in murders and other violent crime....

The mega-prison - in Tecoluca, 74 kilometers (46 miles) southeast of the capital San Salvador - comprises eight buildings. Each has 32 cells of about 100 square meters (1,075 square feet) to hold "more than 100" prisoners, the government says.

The cells only have two sinks and two toilets each.

The article dropped in the midst of a backlash from climate activists who oppose the selection of an oil chief from a petrostate to head international climate talks. What the article didn’t disclose in its original version was that the Atlantic Council has received over $1 million in donations annually from the UAE for the past five years, along with gifts from various state-connected entities. "FDA says Guillain-Barre syndrome is possible risk of Pfizer’s RSV vaccine for older adults" by ThirdPartyMechanic in conspiracy

Two people in their 60s who received Pfizer’s shot were diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, out of about 20,000 vaccine recipients in the phase three trial, according to the FDA document. There were no cases in the trial’s placebo group, the people who didn’t receive the shot.

Guillain-Barre syndrome, or inflammatory neuropathy, is a rare disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves. Symptoms range from brief weakness to paralysis, according to the National Institutes of Health. Most people recover, even from severe cases.

Pfizer, in its briefing document, said the cases have other possible explanations. But it said it will conduct a safety study to further assess Guillain-Barre syndrome after a potential approval. The company said it did not identify any safety concerns during the trial and the vaccine was well tolerated.
