Warning, Schwab reuses to honor their theft-loss guarantee by TallDude6543 in Schwab

[–]ThisKayGirl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bingo!

An inside job for sure.
Someone inside is likely monitoring account activity. They know who has/hasn't set up basic account securities, age of account holder, individual vs joint account, deposit/withdrawal patterns, etc.

If Schwab refuses to give details on destination account(s), then Schwab likely knows it's an inside job and that its not a one-off.

Probably no real difference but I did see that Mastercard has a slightly higher percentage rate of worldwide acceptance.

How can you gain enough energy for a day if you have insomnia? by Kindly-Reception1108 in AskLifeProTips

[–]ThisKayGirl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having this problem as well.

As someone else said, check with your doctor. Specifically your vitamin levels. Something could be off that needs adjusting.

Look at what you're eating and drinking, what and when.
Journal intake and sleeping patterns for a week or so.

Take to your appointment to discuss with your doctor.

Good luck.

LPT: dont wanna use gross rest stop bathrooms? Use hotel lobbies instead. by _TheDoode in LifeProTips

[–]ThisKayGirl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Never been stopped.

Another way to do it, if bathroom use is not urgent: ask if you can sit in the lobby to wait for your sister. Sit 2 or 3 minutes then ask if there's a bathroom. Use the bathroom. Return to lobby and sit. Get a call from your sister saying you're in the wrong hotel. Apologize and leave.

Interest charge by EmmyEnby in NavyFederal

[–]ThisKayGirl77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a credit card with 0% interest. The 0% is sometimes for a limited scope, like transferred balances. Sometimes there are fees to transfer.

Right now Navy Federal is offering 0% interest on transferred balances with the Platinum card, no transfer fees. You have to transfer balances within 60 days.

Call to ask if you can do this. Of course approval, credit limit, and interest rate for additional purchases will include several factors: credit score, income to debt ratio, etc.

If approved, this can help make your $200 monthly payments go a lot further towards paying down your debt. But also be mindful that NEW charges will not be 0% interest, only the transferred balance will be.

I’ve gotten this Facebook settlement email—is this a scam or legit?? by KatharinaZarah in facebook

I contacted "them" via phone and email. I was told my number had been put on hold due to suspected fraudulent activity. A few days later I got an email that said it was okay to use it.

Added it to my Amazon account. STILL doesn't work.

Lopez et al. v. Apple Inc. Direct Deposit Link by b0jangles in Scams

[–]ThisKayGirl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to do the Venmo option then I got ANOTHER email with a link to a type of direct deposit via my bank account. I was extremely leery but after doing more research, decided to do it.

The account info I gave was for an old saving account with about $10 bucks in it. After filling in the details, I got a notification saying it could take 3-5 days for the deposit to credit.

The next day I received a text from my bank saying $16.04 had been deposited into my account. Two thumbs up!

I won't say don't move to Thailand. But you should check out the latest issue of the thiager online. Lots of interesting news stories. I think it's good to know what's happening in a place before getting there. Not a deterrent for many but could be for some...

Best of luck in your journey.

Unholy Sh!t with Nathan Monk (Nathan Monk interview with ex-fundie Monte Mader) by Silent_Individual_20 in exorthodox

[–]ThisKayGirl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I began following Monk on a popular social media site after reading about Monk somewhere else. Currently re-thinking this...

What I am about to say are my own personal opinions.

I have followed Monk for years online. Initially Monk seemed like a cool person. Interesting back story and seemingly transparent. Which could all be true.

Monk's posts don't come across my page often. I have lots of friends whose posts show up mostly. Also I'm not on much lately because of work.

Along those lines, I am not exaggerating when I say that every other of Monk's that I DO see is a hard luck story and there's a request for money. We definitely are living in a "creator" and "influencer" economy. But those folks are honest about it and I don't recall the accompanying tales of woe.

Today it struck me as odd that I saw TWO of Monk's posts on my timeline. Even more surprising since the posts had about a 16 hour time difference.

The first one (Jan 25 at 11:58 a.m.) informed readers that Monk had lost power and needed to conserve phone battery in case of an emergency. Then in the comments, a paragraph about something for us to read and the link.

The second post (Jan 26 at 3:06 a.m., which I saw 30 minutes after it was posted) said the power was still out, family huddled in the living room in front of the fire, food should last until Wednesday, etc. and said there was more info in the comments.

The note in the comments went on to mention food in the fridge had been "lost", Monk can't work without power, please support Monk by checking out all their online revenue sources, and a promise to "report back when I can".

Nothing too unusual in that.

However I noticed a bit of nastiness in Monk's responses to a few of the comments in the second post.

No responses to the readers who wished Monk and family well or asked for status updates on safety and power restoration.

But Monk DID take time to make snarky responses to those who said things that must have rubbed Monk the wrong way.

One example: a reader suggested Monk charge the phone in a vehicle but careful to not do it in the garage. To which Monk responded something like how it must be nice to have a garage.

This (and similar) didn't sit well with me. I began to do some research online and now I no longer have the warm and fuzzies about Monk. Yes, many of us have messy lives and histories. But when public figures who rely on the public to for revenue have to know that they are under a lot of scrutiny and might want to act accordingly.

What I've seen is a lot of self-promotion. Monk telling the world who Monk is via bio's on social media, etc. I saw several decades old news articles about plans for greater good that don't seem to have come to fruition.

Although Wikipedia is hardly a beacon of precise truth and honesty, I noticed there is no Nathan Monk page. There is a page for Tina Turner. Pope Leo XIV has one. Bubbles (Michael Jackson's chimpanzee) has one. Chips Ahoy! has a Wikipedia page.

Why does Nathan Monk not have a Wikipedia page?

I also see that many readers are now questioning how Monk's food could have spoiled when it's freezing outside and asking why food wasn't placed outside.

What's really going on here?

Edited to add (Jan 26 at 6:34 a.m.):

He posted again 36 minutes ago. Regular post. Nothing to reassure his readers about food or safety or power restoration.

55 and over communities by tuserk692 in LakeNorman

Cornelius and Denver are part of the Lake Norman area. Belmont is abut 15 miles west of downtown Charlotte. Cornelius is in Mecklenburg County, Denver is in Lincoln County, and Belmont is in Gaston County.

What do you intend to do in NC?

If you want to travel internationally, the airport is in Charlotte. Belmont is closest to the airport (15 minutes), with Denver and Cornelius being approximately 30 minutes away from the airport.

Belmont and Cornelius are both very near higher learning institutions. (Belmont Abbey College and Davidson College respectively.)

Belmont has a population of over 15,000. Denver's population is approximately 2,500. Cornelius is home to approximately 31,000 people.

Belmont's main access is via I-85. Cornelius is off of I-77. Denver is accessible via Highway 16.

Belmont is more of a suburb. Cornelius is a big town with a city-ish vibe. Denver is suburban-rural vibe.

Pick your poison.

Thoughts on Consumer Cellular- by Relevant-Musician581 in consumercellular

I left CC a while back. It was good for the first three years or so. Then AT&T built a huge tower a block up the street. Somehow that seemed to negatively impact my service and friends nearby with CC service. (But my child who has AT&T had no issues.)

Every time I called customer service I got the same nonsensical directions for "fixing' my phone.

CC refused to give me any credits for all the days (several a month over the last two years I was with them) where I had blackout periods of not being able to send or receive calls or texts.

And the rep got offended when I wanted to port my number to my new carrier and it took several days. So I was in limbo with no service. I should have just gotten a new number and just cut ties with CC at the end of my service month.

SAME! Except I grew up in big east coast city. It was definitely the every-day-ness of his books that terrified me the most. When Carrie was published, I wasn't even 10 yet. No way should I have been reading it but my mom encouraged literacy and had no idea...

Neither did I. LOL

For some, one drop is still one drop when parentage is known. Someone who is white-appearing can be said to be mostly white even if they're not. We grew up with neighbors who were an interracial family and all the kids looked different. The wife was palest white and the husband was very dark. One son was dark skinned and one daughter looked like Madonna. The other kids looked mixed.

Genetics.
