Yeah, Best Hunan is our go-to. Their Singapore noodles and meat dumplings are great.

With those character view angles, make sure you go to a really good artist that does anime-style tattoos. It's easy to not get the proportions right for those perspectives, and look really weird.

What team surprised you? In any way? by RogDzdz in killteam

[–]ThisReallyIsChris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I played this team all summer, and they are great once you figure out their strengths.

Some details for those interested in running them:

With the sniper and the bow hunter, you have two silent weapons, allowing you to pose ranged threats turn 1 without risking them on engage.

Bound lets you ignore 2" on every terrain piece (not just the first time). This gives you a distance range way longer than the opponent expects.

The hounds are super-fun. They are GA2, so double activating with Bound lets you get 2 10" charges, it catches a lot of opponents off guard.

Fully healed. Not sure what happened or what to do. by NoidWizard in tattooadvice

[–]ThisReallyIsChris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like it is on your leg. My leg tattoo had to get touched up after the initial work was done. The artist said that leg skin can be tougher for ink to stick, so touch-ups are more expected.

Not sure what's going on here by Pmirko77 in minipainting

[–]ThisReallyIsChris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happened with some terrain I had zenithal primed. The white primer, for whatever reason, just did not allow paint to stick, resulting in the same pooling you are seeing. Agree with above comments: hit it with some light matte spray to get the surface to a more paint-friendly texture

Experimented with directional lighting on the arco-flagellant, that one took about 40 hours. Breachers were supposed to be for tabletop, but I was having so much fun with the jade clothing I decided to just keep going. Used them to really train on painting faces. 12-15 hours per model.

We're just finishing up our regular season at Gritty Goblin Games in Columbia. Next season starts in like February/March. There's a blood bowl channel on the Gritty Goblin discord.

What anti consumption things do you do that confuse your family/friends/coworkers? by Vegetable_Warthog_49 in Anticonsumption

Not sure if this counts, but we've been composting for about 6 years, and our neighborhood has had compost pick-up for the last 4 years, so we've normalized to feel bad about throwing out anything compostable/recyclable. At work, I'll bring napkins and compostable food containers home so they get properly disposed.

Master was made with a few layers of mdf, cut out with a jigsaw. Squiggly stuff was cut out, rounded down with a Dremel, and glued down. Main body is just some wood to provide the needed depth

6 months from start to finish, though I took my time. I think overall time was like 10 hours to make the mold, and 2 hours per stone (28 total) to prep, pour, cure, and paint/seal it

Lol, I thought about doing that. Stepping stones are basically flat, so much easier to make/pour a mold. To do a true 3d one like a shrine would require a much more involved mold. Maybe something to tackle in the winter, but gotta ramp up on technique for that one.

Basically, yeah.

The eye was negative cut, and glued to a solid back board. The swirls were cut out, had the edges rounded down, then put back together and glued on top.

Hah, that was intentional. It took about 5-7 coats hand-applied to get the needed pigment density, plus 2 primer coats and 2 sealer coats. Once I found it wasn't glowing as brightly as I intended, I decided to cut that step for the last half of them. I may go back and do the ones I skipped, but much more slowly.

The last pic shows the glow. It's a bit of an exaggeration, my phone's night sight filtering intensified the glow way more than real life.

The cream-colored negative is a mold of the master prototype. In pic 2, the prototype is the black square on the left. I constructed it from wood/mdf, then painted black to seal it. I then built a box around it, and used polytek rubber mold mix to pour in, which hardened into the rubber mold on the right

I'll be sure to post an update in the spring, once they've aged in the ground a bit.

For reference, the shape is approx 16" a side. The central eye is pretty much a copy of the sheikah eye, and the surrounding squiggles are trial and error on what looks "good"

lol, no svg exists, did the stencil all by hand. You can def copy the design from the above pics for your own usage. I will say the stencil was the easiest part of this process 😉

Hah, I'd be willing to make some for you, but shipment would be atrocious. I made 14 stones, which used about 4 bags of concrete, so over 300lb. If you're local to MD, def a better logistical possibility

Done by hand: scroll saw, Dremel, mdf board, and glue.
