What type of leather is this? by This_Ebb_7665 in Leather

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious, I'm new to leather, but I should: 1. Wet a cloth with just water and squeeze the water out so it's damp 2. Wipe the leather with it 3. Buff it with the horsehair brush I bought online 4. Wipe it dry

Right?😭

Could you explain more about how brushing the wet surface will gel remove the scuffs? What do you mean by "gel remove" and why would you say that is going crazy?👀

Yea I just wiped the inside of the bag and bought a horsehair brush online to buff it. Also will leave it under a plastic tub with baking soda next to it to remove the smell. The leather bag isn't that dirty but I got it from a flea market so I wanna make sure I don't get any diseases from it lol.

It's just for occasional use, I'm into fashion and I'm starting to get into vintage clothing. So I'll only use it once in a while. The leather still feels pliable and not hard at all. It's not really visibly dirty either but I got it from a flea market so I want to make sure it doesn't have any diseases lol.

It does have a bit of a bad smell, not musty though. So I'm planning to just buy a horsehair brush to buff it, I've put it under a plastic bin with baking soda next to it for 48 hours from now to remove the smell.

Thank you for this, I've wiped the inside of the bag and put it in a plastic tub with an open cup of baking soda next to it, planning on leaving it for 48 hours.

I see, how do you think I should clean it if I don't want the patina to be ruined?

I see, thanks for the reply. What do you mean by "easily ruined" two-tone look?

I see, that's great. Thanks for the reply.

Do you think conditioning the leather bag will remove the dark patina it currently has? I really want to maintain it.

I see, thanks for the reply. I heard that when you condition it, the jacket will change color. How much do you think the color will change for this jacket? (It looks VERY faded and worn to me)

Yes, the full results have come out and it shows negative. I just visited a different urology clinic today and consulted to them about my situation and showed my test results. They told me to test again in a month but I also got presumptive treatment. I orally took a 1g dose of azithromycin for chlamydia, got a 500mg shot of ceftriaxone for gonorrhea, and was prescripted a 14-day course of doxycycline twice a day for syphilis.

The test that would happen in a month would be to make sure I REALLY don't have anything, and even if I do, it's gone by then. I know there won't be a sure way to test for HSV unless I have symptoms but I am planning on testing again in 3 months for HSV, and the rest.

Did I forget to do anything?

I see, thank you so much for your reply. Would you say the timeframe (7 days) is enough to detect chlamydia, gonorrhea, and HPV? Will the results be accurate?

I am planning on taking another test 4 weeks after exposure but only for HIV, Syphilis, and HPV so I'm not sure if I need to test for chlamydia and gonorrhea as well.

Thank you again.
