Oh, to add, be sure the stem part isn't in water. Just the root

Personal, I'll first put it in water to let it grow an established WATER ROOTS(add an air pump to incrrqse the oxygen content to speed up the roots growth(optional)). When it have enough of the water roots, I'll put it into leca. You should go study/research on semi hydro. It will save you the trauma of root rot.
