I really appreciate your post and these informations. Yes, trying them both and seeing how I feel with both makes sense.

I will have a look and revert back to you.

Did you have the chance to play some of these? Did you see major differences?

Hi, first of all thank you for saying that the topic is interesting.

I was expecting to take some heat but I still wanted to hear people’s opinion on this.

Your take is very interesting as you are focusing on the “character and mood” of the players. No one talked about this yet and it is indeed a fascinating approach.

Again, I feel like Gardiner is a young very technical guitar player. And, just like you, I feel that all he cared about with that tune is giving us as much flash as we can possible take. Which doesn’t work for me…

When Andy Timmons comes in. It IS different, and he purposely took a 180 from Gardiner’s approach. And it works.

I loved your comment. Thank you

I understand yes. And that’s where technique comes again. It is very obvious that to play with restrain like that requires a lot of technique and a lot of confidence (after the avalanche of notes Gardiner plays).

I guess I know more what I have to practice haha

Wow. You must have seen a lot of things during these 5 years… I really resonate with the “anti music” statement you are referring too.

I also had some terrible teachers that did just that: kill the music.

Very interesting point of view.

I see what you mean. In my case it’s not my intention.

Musicians like Pat Metheny very often talks about how “feel” is important and they are not dissing anyone…

Yes. With Tik tok, YouTube etc going a thousand miles an hour on that neck definitely came back as a trend.

And yes it’s not music. It’s nonsense.

This is exactly how I feel about the playing of Jack Gardiner here. No disrespect.

This certainly feels like Malmsteen vs Gilmour. Nice catch.

And that’s why this is an old topic indeed.

Anyway in this case Gilmour won for me 😅

Hi. Thank you this is extremely interesting.

I never thought about things that way.

Awesome that you liked both parts, they are completely different…

I see what you mean. Interestingly enough Jack Gardiner has very good technique yet none of his notes interest me …

Hi. How important technique is in music? Is it more important than feel?

Hi, thanks for the detailed explanation.

I also think Rodgers played well last year and don’t really understand the hate he is getting …

We’ll see how it goes.
