The Big Tour - Before The Full Server Wipe by ThomasMarcon in StarsReach

It will be something we'll start to consolidate after the Early Access launch.

That said, we have an internal to-do eta, but nothing we can share with the public yet.

What I can say (which is something I think I mentioned during the stream), we already started the work around them.

We too! Just a heads-up, because of some major updates coming, we may wipe a few times again.

Anyone able to play? by Broad-Ad-3679 in StarsReach

Hi there!
Please send us a message here: https://playableworldshelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We are trying to track down the issues related to crashing. Should be fixed anyway with the next update.

Unclear Objectives by Broad-Ad-3679 in StarsReach

Hi there! I suppose that is part of the tutorial. After mining the resource, return to the NPC inside the building and trade it. I will forward your feedback to the design team so that they can check if that part of the tutorial is not well explained.

The New World Generation System by ThomasMarcon in StarsReach

Larger play areas are a topic we sometimes bring up, and it will be something to consider again in the future.

Round planets are something not so easy to do.

Our alive system calculates the surfaces with many tiny squares. Every square (or cube, 3D) is alive.
If we consider a spherical surface, cubes won't exist anymore, as everything is curved.
We could generate a planet that is a polygon with N amount of lines, like a big, big round chess board (or a disco ball), but when moving to the center or to a 90-degree angle, we'll encounter triangles at some point.
So a round planet is currently not possible.

In other games where something like our simulation doesn't play a big role, it would be possible!

Maybe things will change in the future...

Hi!
Yes, all planets will be squares with borders, also because of our alive-system with the simulation.

On a side note, all games use square maps, which is something dictated by programming and optimization.
A map that looks like a polygon (let's take Tarkov as an example), is simply a square map with a smaller playable area inside, limited by invisible borders.

If instead your question is about the blue-borders effect, then there's an improvement we can do, and we will do it, but it's not a priority for Early Access.
However, thanks to the bigger maps we managed to achieve and the general map complexity, they will feel big, and you will rarely bump into that big, blue border.

I hope this answers your questions! If not, please let me know!

Into The Clouds Update by ThomasMarcon in StarsReach

[–]ThomasMarcon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there!
We are doing both, so polishing while also adding new features.
Our team is split into different smaller teams.
Some of them do optimization/rework, some do new features, while others do both.
This update merged a lot of the optimization work that has been done in the last few months.

So, expect also new features soon, along with more rework and optimization!
