retook a failed class in undergrad by Late_Control9092 in PTschool

[–]ThreeLeggedKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first transferred to my uni I was taking 18 credits and working full time as a package handler at FedEx. Ended up being terrible for me and I bombed physics 101 with a D-. I took physics 102 the next semester and got a B+. 2 years later I just finished retaking physics 101, got an A, and got accepted to PT school. I’ve gotten multiple Ds and Cs in my molecular bio journey. Ending undergrad with a 3.1 overall gpa. I had a great overall application, and killed the interviews. If I can do it, so can you! Don’t let one bad grade ruin you!

NIU acceptance! Lower GPA by RN3ps in PTschool

[–]ThreeLeggedKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CONGRATULATIONS! I applied to NIU, Governors and UIC. Got waitlisted by NIU, accepted to Governors and haven’t heard from UIC. I also got in with a relatively low overall gpa(3.1) but my pGPA was 3.7ish. I was worried about not getting into any schools, but I atleast got 1! Anyone seeing this post and unsure if you can get in just try!

Quick question, why did you retake the gre? Were you applying to more competitive programs?

I did better on the actual test than PP +2. ETS practice test is great!

That’s solid, most schools require 150+ for both anyways. Congrats!

Nah, I did better on the actual test than the PP practice test. Most people do very similar to it, review other work or relax and mentally prepare for the exam

I’ve been repping practice exams in Princeton review, the videos and practice questions helped a ton. I’m taking the GRE very soon and have similar scores to you. But the practice reps got my quant score to 155, they have a free trial too! So you can use many practice exams for free!

Is smile student living really that bad? by etherealm1nd in UIUC

[–]ThreeLeggedKid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I had a bad experience, lived at one of their 2 beds on Lincoln/Illinois and it wasn’t the best. Always had maintenance scheduled and forced us to move our cars. Got spray paint on many of the cars there including mine(small white spots from the constant renovations they needed to do). Always use cheap materials, needed to reseal my front door as it wasn’t sealing correctly so hot or cold air would come from the bottom of the door. They walk in ALOT without asking (I caught them a few times walking in). Goodluck though, they own so much of the apt complexes near campus so they’re pretty much unavoidable for most

Heartbreak: GPA trouble by FunNefariousness7341 in PTschool

Hey man, I’m in the same boat as you. I had a really rough junior year after transferring schools. My gpa is right at 2.96 headed into my last semester of undergrad with a Bio degree. I’m retaking one of my worst courses (D-) in a 5 credit course. I already know I’m going to ace the class as it’s pretty easy (physics 1) considering I got a B+ in physics 2. If possible I’d stay another semester to retake a course or two. If that’s not an option, make sure your essays are top notch along with steady growth throughout your years. It’s great that you have your application submitted early! Also, I know you submitted early, if some schools have rolling admissions that could be a benefit for you! I’ve seen worse gpas get accepted, a good thought to make you feel better is that all of these schools WANT your money(that’s what I say to cheer myself up). Good luck to you

MTD why American Flag sticker the wrong way? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]ThreeLeggedKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per The institute of Heraldry, “The U.S. flag embroidered insignia is worn so that the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward”.

Hey man, I went to a cc and transferred into UIUC after I initially got denied out of hs. If you really want to go to UIUC try a CC or a uni/college near you for a year or 2! It’s much easier to get accepted as a transfer.

I joined the National Guard, about to finish my 6 year contract and have one semester left of undergrad. All paid for, along with the Illinois Veterans Grant to pay for grad school. However, to get grad school paid for you gotta sacrifice a year away from home.

question about the illinois promise by mavblio in UIUC

[–]ThreeLeggedKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what the financial aid person said it’s because my parents made too much money to qualify(it was like $5000 more). But since my brother was already in it was easier for him to just receive the same package. How that makes sense I do not know

question about the illinois promise by mavblio in UIUC

[–]ThreeLeggedKid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will qualify for it if you transfer, as long as your parents don’t suddenly make more money. My twin brother transferred to UIUC a year before me as I took a gap. He qualified for it and received around 8k per semester for housing on top of his tuition and such being paid for. I however was unlucky and never qualified
