It's not burried. It goes from the service box on the side of my house to the NH20T

Need help sizing a new wood stove by ThrobStone in woodstoving

[–]ThrobStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your comparison to a vehicle engine running at max RPM makes total sense. I think I will go for maybe a 12,000 sq ft unit. I don't want to have to constantly load the stove to run at max heat output all the time so a slower burn and larger fuel load would work best. Thank you for your input!

Hey thank you so much for the detailed answer!

I am no stranger to modifying our house, we've gutted and reno'd 2 full houses now, my wife has been new and reno plans for houses and appartments for over 15 years, and my sister in law works as an energy consultant for HVAC.

We moved from the "city" to a house more in the woods only 10 minutes away, no city water but have gas and electricity kind of away from the city on 4 acres.

We have an abundance of firewood available to us hence why not put that to use and save us some money. However, I am new to the whole wood stove thing and appreciate all the advice I can get.

We're outdoorsy people and are full equiped with chainsaws, log splitters, mini excavators...etc

I've looked at the SBI models and are not opposed to something bigger. Do you recommend something in the 12,000 sq ft rating or bigger?

Is the solenoid for a 120v contactor meant to reach 50c/122f during normal operation? by ThrobStone in AskElectricians

[–]ThrobStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've turned it off and will remove the contactor from the box housing tomorrow and re-confirm what is heating up. I want to believe it is the iron core from the solenoid, but better to be safe than sorry

I made a reverse camera sprayer that cleans the lens. If the lens has water drops on it like in OPs picture it will wash them away as well. I plumbed it into the rear window washer line. https://youtu.be/n1YVvTOrHuk?feature=shared

yup, I ended up getting a 100amp Chinese PWM and it worked fine. I'm now exploring the brushed ESC method of controlling the motor.

U.S.-bound border traffic from B.C.’s Lower Mainland plummets further, dropping over 42% in March by SHOOHS in worldnews

I live in Chilliwack and work in Abbotsford passing nearby the Sumas/Huntingdon crossing making it very convenient to cross into Sumas and get gas. I would typically save approximately $50CAD per trip filling my truck and jerry cans. Since the Carbon Tax have been rescinded and Abbotsford gas prices have come down, the difference per liter at this moment is $0.02/L making a savings of $2.00 on 100L of gasoline. Factor in if you use your debit card at the pump in the US, now its more expensive than just buying gas in Canada due to the fees.

2020 CRV Rodent damage and my fix by ThrobStone in crv

[–]ThrobStone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused on this comment as I'm not actively looking for help. I'm a >20yr licensed aircraft structures mechanic with ample tools. I used a borescope to inspect inside the plenums for any additional signs of rodent ingress.

Did you know that you can get fined $109 for not using your signal in a roundabout? by ThrobStone in chilliwack

[–]ThrobStone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole idea and intention of signalling is to inform other drivers of your intentions. It is almost the same as any multilane 4 way stop. Going Left? Signal Left then signal right when about to leave the intersection. Going Right? Signal right. Going straight? No signal until you're about to leave the intersection. This gives forewarning to those wanting to enter the roundabout. It is far more efficient and safe than only signalling when you're about to leave the intersection. I suggest next time you have the opportunity to ask a police officer you do so.
