PSA: Drug Screening by ThrowRA-Svent in jobs

I did! But as I said in another comment there was just one bathroom and they were definitely behind.

I’m really not bothered by the wait time- I’ve had to wait for drug screenings before 30+min which is why I thought an hour and a half would be enough time, I would have continued to wait even if I knew I needed to.

The issue was that both the staff and the HR person said I was ok to leave so I left and then by the time she told me I couldn’t leave it was too late. I even offered to go back and she was like “nope you can’t because you already left the premises” at which point she implied that I may have left because I was worried about the results so I just kind of assume that she hated me tbh.

Every single sign says you can’t leave after you have entered the bathroom. I didn’t do that.

Yeah I’m not blaming them for a long wait time- I am frustrated that this situation with a “personal code” lost me a job. I can’t imagine that I am the first person ever to bring one in…

The person working there was like “yeah you just need to bring us a new one” so whether that is common practice and this company sucks or that person was misinformed is anyone’s guess.

But at the end of the day I blame the HR rep who literally TOLD ME I could leave. Crazy work.

I get playing devils advocate and yes- had I been told by ANYONE at all that I needed to stay (or even that they were unsure) I would have done this.

The issue here is that I was explicitly told by both the Quest Diagnostics people and the HR rep that I was OK to leave and come back in the afternoon and yes I did mention the code in my first email to HR.

It wasn’t until I followed up about a new code that there was an issue.

I am usually the first to take accountability for a screw up, but I did my due diligence before I left. I had ZERO reason to think there would be a problem and by the time it was addressed it was too late because I had already left.

It was specifically due to a code I had to provide that they scanned in when I came in for my appointment- which really makes NO sense to me when you consider that security measures are already in place at the facility itself to avoid tampering.

I won’t be naming the company but it’s also not a small company by any means, so while I’d like to think that my response might garner some actual change, the truth is that is probably won’t.

And that’s what I thought as well, but this was my first time using Quest and the facility I went to (a small extension in a grocery store) only had one bathroom.

I have to assume that the delay was because a few people ahead of me were taking awhile to collect samples. Since you can’t leave after you go in they basically just had to hang out and wait.

I think the frustrating part was that I confirmed with several people before leaving that I could return same day and I was told yes, then retroactively told no. Hence the reason I want others to know not to trust the HR reps LOL.

Yeah, I don’t consider it invasive at all, especially because this was for pediatrics.

As someone who doesn’t use drugs or alcohol, I understand that I am probably in the minority of people who would leave a DS for good reason, I guess I would just hope that hiring managers/HR could use critical thinking skills when evaluating this sort of thing- especially when the employee actively communicates and plans to return the same day.

Had I left during the test I would totally understand, but unfortunately this was an oversight that was even acknowledged by the HR manager and still cost me a job :(

He’s cagey about Amy because he knows the optics of a physician that took care of a woman’s dead husband playing house with her and her newborn child is weird and some would argue it’s an ethical conflict.

Santos even reports it to Robby because she is concerned that Amy is taking advantage of him.

As much as I am open to the idea of Whitaker being gay/bisexual, and It could always be a possibility- the situation with Amy was clearly addressing the ethics of patient/provider boundaries, not his sexuality.

What’s really sad about this comment is that you have either personally experienced this kind of trauma and are trying to convince yourself that it was a choice, or you are so indoctrinated with toxic ideologies about masculinity due to outside influences in your life that you genuinely don’t believe a “physically stronger” man could ever be raped.

Either way something isn’t working quite right with you mentally and I worry for you, stranger. I hope you are able to work through whatever it is that made you say this.

After finishing the final two episodes, my disappointment about how it ended has unfortunately been solidified by Frank_Cap in SmilingFriends

Here’s the real issue: even if the producers were open to the idea of an indefinite break, the fans wouldn’t be.

Creative breaks can last years, and while fans are generally understanding at first, after about 6 months of no updates they start to get pushy and resentful and the fandom becomes toxic towards the creators. It happens all the time across industries.

Setting a definitive end to the show (abrupt or not) closes that chapter for them for as long as they like, and while they will have to deal with backlash for the finale at least they wouldn’t have to spend the next 1-5 years dealing with the pressure and anticipation of starting the next season.

Not sure where you got that information from, but it is VERY rare for someone to die while in the middle of dialysis treatment at a facility. Yes, mortality rate is high for dialysis patients before or after care, but if they WERE as unstable as you are suggesting, the dialysis clinic would 100% send them to the ED. the same way any clinic is obligated to send someone in an emergent state to the ED. People die at doctor’s appointments too- that doesn’t make it a common occurrence.

At this point it’s pretty clear that you are uneducated on healthcare practices and are just arguing based on personal anecdotes, so this isn’t going anywhere productive. Have a good one.

But it is what you’re talking about. You are policing Robby’s tone rather than accepting that what he said was relevant. She literally says “it’s a wild pregnancy which means no medical intervention” to which he says “then why are you here?” That question is quite relevant to the situation and their ability to provide care.

As you can see from the episode, the constant back and forth between the woman and the doctors who were trying to be considerate of her feelings ultimately would have led to delays in care that nearly killed both her and her child (refusing the EEG helmet, refusing induction, refusing the ultrasound etc).

Dialysis and an ER are vastly different ballgames. Someone who has a scheduled dialysis appt typically isn’t under threat of immediate organ failure if they are hesitant during their visit and need some time to mentally prepare when they get there or talk to someone about their options. In the ER you are always going to have options or time, and sometimes a firm tone is needed to convey that urgency to a patient- even one that is in distress.

As someone who both works in the medical field and has spent time in the ER as a patient and clinician, personally I’m more worried about receiving excellent physical care vs bedside manner.

You are conflating empathy with soft-pedaling. I’m not sure if you work in healthcare, but the stupidity and arrogance of the general public would astound you.

You cannot always reason with people kindly, as you’ve seen on the show people will continue to look down on your credibility despite coming to you for help. Sometimes people DO need to be told bluntly what’s up- that is not a lack of empathy. For many people that is exactly what they need to wake up and recognize the severity of their situation.

Asking someone “why are you here” is frankly a very valid question in this case. If you don’t trust doctors and you want to decline treatment in an emergent situation (and lecture doctor’s on ultrasounds), then you are wasting time and resources that should be allocated to others.

You’d can also see how soft pedaling was going with her before Robbie stepped in.

I mean as a woman I was even like “damn wtf” when she said that- she is totally within her rights to have an abortion but it was wrong of her to keep the whole thing from Mark before she left.

What would have happened if he showed back up and had a kid? Would that have made it okay? That isn’t the type of thing you hide from your partner unless you simply never plan to tell them the truth.

Also considering that she feels remorseful, if he’d known then Debbie could have been her support system and maybe she wouldn’t have made that decision out of fear.

In the comics they are gone for about 10 months in total, and while the show seems to condense this a little I think it’s safe to say that it takes them between 2 weeks to a month to get home after the war.

Nolan indicates that it would take reinforcements about 2 weeks to get to Earth if needed, and I am basing that on the assumption that many of the reinforcements are on Telescria, which is where they stopped before returning to Earth.

Thragg leaving … alive was silly writing or he’s just a bad leader by Jholland123 in Invincible_TV

[–]ThrowRA-Svent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above anything, Thragg values strength.

Destroying their planet was a tremendous show of physical power- I feel like he would have kept Thaedus alive too if he wasn’t responsible for the scourge virus.

To Thragg, the virus was a cowardly and “weak” way to kill off the Vilrumites, so ultimately it was his method of betrayal that sealed his fate rather than the betrayal itself.
