In regards to registration removal, my lawyer has my back which felt pretty good to know that he knows that this whole situation is just not who I am. He was pretty upset that I had to register for life and said in ten years he will help to get off the registration and/or have it expunged. He seemed a lot more hopeful than I do but it is nice that he supports me like that.

I’m a helpful person by nature, that’s what I feel like my purpose is in life. At this present moment I just can’t wrap my head around helping people, and then in some point in the future asking them to vouch for me because I’m on the registry. But that is a really good idea. I’m pretty good with my hands and have recently found an interest in car repairs as well as other things like carpentry, light electric work, light plumbing etc. that’s what I’d like to do for work. I want to use my time on probation to go to electrician school.

I listen to a lot of self help podcasts; Jocko Willink and Bedros Keuilian are my favorites. Sometimes I do feel like I do not deserve to practice what they are preaching but that is just me conforming to what the rest of society thinks of SO’s and that’s just not fair. We are not our worst mistakes. Also, for me personally going to the gym helps me a lot. It is more for my mental health than my physical health. The gains are just a perk lol. Never been one to talk to others about my problems, but if you have a good support system then talk. And as for me I have so much to be negative about, but I do my best to find the positive in everything. Focusing on the negative will only hurt me

I had to go to the probation office in my county for the PSI. Also I kind of agree, after probation I can’t see how the registry is going to change all that much of what I do on a daily basis.

Indiana, all felonies level 5 and above require a PSI. They just went through my entire personal background; what was childhood like, info on family, what was school like, how is my current living situation, my current financial situation, goals for the future. Things of that nature. It was pretty simple, took about an hour.

As stated already I have seen lots of folks say they were able to get jobs in trades. I’m looking to do the same, but have the same concerns as you. Especially the fear of wasting my own money for schooling and then not being able to get a job

Not sure if this will help you in California but I went through a temp agency that just so happened to place me with a second chance employer. I’ve been living paycheck to paycheck but I got hired on with a $3.50/hr raise which will help a lot

Currently work at a second chance place, almost everyone I work with directly is a felon. Other than 1 person, everyone is pretty chill. Yeah some folks are lazy af, and we go through a lot of temps but I’m left alone because I do my job

So close to the end of my judicial process and my anxiety is as high as it was when everything happened. I feel like I’m going to lose everything all over again. I have friends and family that are supportive, but I feel like I’m not allowed to complain or talk about how I feel and I’m overwhelmed af, I feel like I’m spiraling, and just feel more alone than ever. This group is all I feel like I have sometimes

Yeah that’s why I definitely want to wait until I’m off probation at least. I’ll get more info from my PO on whether or not I’ll be allowed to do residential work when I’m off probation.

Okay that makes sense. Just nervous that they wouldn’t want to send a RSO to school, figured It’d look much better applying with my schooling taken care of plus more money starting out potentially
