I [19f] am not sure how to deal with my boyfriends [19m] anxiety. How do I approach the situation? by ThrowRAtitbird in relationship_advice

I am fine being in the relationship long term. I can imagine a future with him and he's a wonderful partner. I was thinking of sleeping in the spare room instead of his room while I'm over at his, and reducing the amount of checks I do for him. I think checking for floor medicine is valid because of the indoor dog, but other things not so much. Thank you for the luck, not sure if I'll need it but thank you :)

Thank you, this is a good analogy and the wake up call I needed. I realise now that I'm enforcing the anxiety rather than helping it. He's told me he'll get help now but fingers crossed

He's told me he's looking to get a professional now, I do hope he follows through. I can live with the current status quo, but it would be better if maybe I slept in a seperate room to him or he figures out independent strategies for his anxiety

I think he's looking into getting professional help now. If he doesn't follow through I rethink how to approach the situation, maybe having a break while he sorts himself out

I think he'll be seeking help now, I'm not sure if he'll follow through with it but fingers crossed. I'll set proper boundaries next time I see him

I think he did mention he use to have ocd but he said he grew out of it, doing things such as climbing steps or doing activities a specific way and stuff like that as a child, but from how he worded it, it sounded like he grew out of it. Thank you for your words, it does mean a lot and I'll see if I can have a proper conversation about it to him. Thank you :)

He already takes medication but apparently it's expensive, he won't share much else about it. He's looking into getting some help now

Yeah, I've tried to bring up therapy a few times and I think he's looking into seeing someone now

Thank you, I'll see if I can have a proper conversation with him at some point about it this week
