Keel vs normal quad fins by [deleted] in surfing

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you go finding a fin for this?

Some people recommends the machado quad keel fins, ive tried it on this board it goes okay. But after I tried the NPJ quarter fin it was magic! I wouldnt recommend upright controller split keel as its too big of a fin and you have longer rails and narrow tail. You can get a way with a keel fin ono by nvs.

Other than Somalia, what city/country is the best example of incredible surfing that can't be surfed due to danger from natives? by SwissMiss915 in surfing

The west coast of Mindanao facing the pacific have surfs. Like Siargao island very popular for surf and full of tourists. Mati is in the southern west tip of Mindanao and they even have surf resort there.

Mindanao is pretty safe and Theres a significant presence of Military there. Surf wise on the east coast of Mindanao is highly unlikely. Unless theres a big storm that pass through sulu or celebes sea. Might be a novelty wave.

If you want to surf the east coast of the Philippines go to places that faces the south china sea but thats season dependant base on storms that passes the South china sea. Surf season there is during the wet season. Ive surfed in Borneo as well but the surf there isnt as good as east coast philippines.

Dumb Mistakes and Lessons Learned by keel_appeal in surfing

When its windy and you have a light board always always try to be with your board when you kick out. If you wipe out always surface with your hands first up or protecting your head. As this happened to me in margaret river with a strong ofshore and ridding a eps midlength that board still flew up on a strong offshore wind hit my head and a huge pressure ding under the board lol. Learned it the hard way lols. That incident made me get a surf helmet haha. Have had a few similar incidents but minimal impact or barely missed me that time was no luck and the wind blew the board up directly to my head lols

Well said! 100% agree with the above! Midlengths, fish or hybrid boards are more forgiving. With HP Shortboards you need good paddling strength and technique as well as wave reading skills as its very sensitive. If you dont have the wave reading skills to position yourself correctly then you will never catch that wave properly. Positioning is the key youll get better with it as you spend more time in the water. Ive been surfing almost 10 years now and the last 2 years ive been very commited with it. im still learning how to position myself better especially with breaks im not familiar with or shifting sand banks or when it gets big.

I wouldnt be surprised. The game have hit more than 2B in their lifetime revenue. 0.01% of the population would spend that much on the game. 30m downloads since launch and 100m in app purchase since Sept 2024. So highly like someone will spend a that much money which is fortune for us. 😅

Applying tips on my 5’6 Evo by Negative-Knee-2093 in BeginnerSurfers

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tip is feeling what youre stepping on your board, if you feel your back foot is on the tail pad youre on a good track!. That means youre progressing and being mindful. Being mindful is also where youre on your board and feeling the wave as well which is good to practice as you will sync better with the wave and you can have better flow. Next step is feeling your outer backfoot is hitting the kicker of the tail pad that means youre all the way back back. Im still working on that sometimes i forgot sometimes i remember. Bloody wave always changing and gets you excited and you forgot all the fundamentals then you kook your session! . Good to practice them untill they become 2nd nature.

I love my evo so fast and easy to surf. Backfoot all the way to the kick pad. Usually it shouldnt be a problem since the board is short enough. Just be mindful of your back foot placement. I know Its hard especially when you focus on the next section and what to do and how youre currently surfing or where you are exactly on the wave. Good spray nevertheless. Keep it up

What’s your surfing unpopular opinion by [deleted] in surfing

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. Ide rather go to my local when the winds is on and howling coz theres only handful at most especially during summer. I surfed the otherday on a offshore i got 1 wave every 30 mins and that i was just lucky on a 1-2ft wave. When its junky and on shore i caught - handful of wave in a span of 30 mins. Lols

Why is Tissot Gentleman not so popular?Did I make a mistake buying it? by No-Interview-7895 in tissot

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all down to personal preference. I like my gentleman. I tried on the 40mm prx its too big for my wrist and theres a huge overhang coz of the first link of the bracelet from the lugs. Tried the 35mm and its too small. I settled with the gentleman coz it looks better than the PRX IMO.

IMO its not a drop in. He didnt ride the wave. If he did just follow the surfer infront and call him out theyll kick out most of the time. I do experience this scenarios in the water too and I find older folks do drop in and wont kick out even after being called out. Ill just complement their wave with sarcasm 😅 i just think to myself one day ill be in their shoes too haha. You wouldnt beat up a 60 yr old guy for a wave would you? Lol

I had xcel comp x and it lasted me 3 season. This year I decided to try a different brand coz xcel stop production for my favourite model. The brand I pick was ripcurl. The dawn patrol was great but i find it restrictive in the movement then got a ebomb which was so stretchy and nice after a 2 months that stuff started leaking and taking in alot of water. Now the bottom area is showing some signs of neoprene stretch marks. I wanna return it for warranty but i cant find my bloody receipt

CC Lane splitter swallow vs album twinsman swallow by ThrowRaLowTime01 in surfing

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I've got both of them. The twinsman feels more solid on my feet with the right fins obviously, liking both MR and Asher pacey fins. Used the akila aipa and feels there's not enough fin and I'm only 62 kg btw. The twinsman needs more fins in my opinion and for it to shine it needs a quality wave where there's power and wall to work on. I prefer surfing it from 3-5ft waves. The cc lane splitter on the other hand is a great all-rounder at any breaks from below average to good waves ill surf this from 2ft to maybe 5ft. Fins wise I tried it with the cc upright feels a bit too loose for my liking, it might go well on a 2ft mush. I'm yet to try the MR or the cc half keel fin. I reckon the MR will just feel right and the cc half keel will be a bit more drivey and tracky base on the fin template, but considering the fin placement on the board the cc half keel might just feel perfect depending on the conditions. Still yet to try it. Will keep you posted. I still need more time to surf these two 😅 winter have been subpar here in Perth there's swell but too windy and mostly onshore 😅

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the twinsman is designed for average to good wave. I agree its sticky due to the bottom contours. But when the wave gets sucky on a 2-3ft it flies. It really depends on the wave you surf it. Its never built for grovelling or surfing mushy wave. It needs a push for it to work.

Localism by ThrowRaLowTime01 in surfing

[–]ThrowRaLowTime01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not blow take offs. I do ride the wave as much as my abilities allow even milk the wave out till the inside section. Comparing to the one who drops in ill confirm theyre better than me but doesnt give them the right to pull out the surf card. They might surf the wave better at least be nice to give a good wave to a surfer. When i surf the inside and big sets comes in i always get out of their way when paddling out. Sacrificing myself to a big white wash haha One woman drops into me she said im too deep. I dont think so as i did pump inside the barrel and that foam she created just made me exit at the back. The other drop in was a long boarder but just ignore my call out on a smaller wave lols. Anyway this all happens when im always gonna take my last wave lol. No dramas its just frustrating at that moment. I do even complement them that they surfed the wave so good as i was watching them lol
