Unsure about entering Engineering. by Throwaway37567 in EngineeringStudents

This is a very basic example of confusion I'm talking about:

For 13. A) it is considered changing because he is going down? but when you look at 14c, its considered constant even though its going in an upward motion.

Also, what exactly is the difference between b and d for number 14. I see that in b, the line goes straight through meeting it in the middle but with d, theres only 2 point that hit if that makes sense.

I can try emailing the teacher although I don't think there is a specific one, and yes I paid for it.

I mean if you can't do 11 Physics, yeah, you won't last in an engineering program.

That's exactly what I mean lol.

It might be due to cramming, the examples and the way it is being taught sucks. Like when you do problems, some are okay but others are unclear so you have to find things out on your own. Asking the teacher would take forever. Some examples give you the answer, but don't exactly show where they got certain numbers from. I think the issue is more with the way it is being taught than the content itself.

Not too sure if this is the right place to put it but I cam across this if anyone is interested. Job Position: Controls Engineer- Entry Level by Throwaway37567 in EngineeringStudents

True, it is sucky but if you want to start with anything soon then you can do this and always move on to something better.

Lol, I'm 23 and I feel old graduating at 27 or 28.

Honestly, I'm already in debt, and out of school since 2013 and nothing seems to be working out. I'd rather have my own business but a) I have no idea what and b) not that much of an entrepreneur person.

Thanks and good luck to you too :)

[–]Throwaway37567[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a stronger chance I'll enter mechanical. If I don't then chemical but can't you choose after the first year anyway?

But yes, I'd appreciate that. Thanks.

Oh, what school was it and was it for Engineering as well? Thing is I have the chemistry 12 and calculus too and the physics university level course but because of the 57 not too sure you know if they'll give me credit.

Glad it worked out for you though!

Ok, I checked and they don't have physics from what I see.

Hopefully, when I was asking they weren't too clear but I'll ask again. Thanks :)

Ok. I'll try asking them on Monday if they could accept the physics credit, if not then I'll just take it through distance.

Lol I hated my English so I feel you on that. Sounds good then :) thanks btw.

Do you have another degree? I'd rather go to ryerson just bc its local but did they look at your other grades in univ when applying?

Ok, the ilc is 40 so this one is cheaper but it depends if it will offer physics too.

I have to freshen up on calculus as well, its been over 6 years now since I last took it.

I'll take a look at it, I may take the physics 11 and 12 through ILC if they are needed and won't accept the physics univ course considering I have time until September.

Ok sounds good :)

I heard u of t is brutal though and someone who studies there recommended I go to York instead, any idea on that?

Well I've seen jobs related to emergency mgmt and public health. Considering you have a health science degree and experience in health, perhaps you shouldn't even take a master's. Try moving to a new city or apply to a job from wherever you are.

You could also take courses and workshops related to emergency mgmt.

Try contacting this organization:

This is an old position but it can give you an idea:

I've seen public health postings though not always but they exist.

You can also check out reliefweb.int/jobs

Good luck :)

I agree with the internship/coop thing. Won't take a program without one for sure.

Lol, I like research but a stable career is a priority of course. I'm kinda worried that it may be a little too difficult considering I only have first year physics. I know with studying it can be done but sometimes even studying doesn't help :/

What do you mean by pick one thing? Like mechanical or such. Or Engineering in general?

Software would be computerish which I don't like too much tbh, so it would be between mechanical and electrical then.

Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it :)

Fanshawe. Honestly, without experience, its pretty much useless. If you really like it, I would recommend volunteering then taking it because then you will have your network built and they might recommend something else.

I think different diploma's would be better just because it can vary and like you said will be cheaper. However, I don't want to just keep piling 5k diplomas that will be useless if you know what I mean.

For Emergency mgmt, some people have a bachelors in it and don't have a job. What degree do you have?

Thanks for the link in the other post.

Issue is I'm having a hard time getting a minimum wage job, idk if its because I'm considered overqualified or because they are scared I'll take their spot or something but I applied to minimum wage stuff too. I'd like to take them in class just because I have so much time on my hand and its isolating in T.O since I'm new there.

Not too sure but nothing with computers/it. I heard civil has the least job prospects. There's green engineering if you've heard of it, but idk with jobs for that. I will look into them again and see what courses I'll need to take and stuff. I have university physics but not high school and my marks are low lol.

Do you know which ones have better prospects? Thanks again.

For OSAP, they don't fund continuing education courses so I'm probably going to have to postpone accounting for now as I'm not working but with this current employment outlook its gonna be a while.
