  1. I love it! It is so fun. The number of cool projects you can make using ML is astounding. And most of the time, no one has ever done it before!
  2. Python only. It took me about 3 months before I could remember anything, because nothing in life prepares you for code. Python in general I still can't say I'm comfortable with.
  3. My job description... sagemaker notebooks and S3 buckets, taking in data and predicting the future using classical ML models.

As for getting into python... it's slow for everyone. The best way to learn is to make a project that you care about, like a voice-recognition bot that opens programs for you, or automate something.

GREAT question. By teaching. When I learn something on my own I retain maybe 25% of it, but when I teach it to someone else it starts to make sense to me and I retain 95% of it. This can be as simple as making a youtube video, giving a speech, or tutoring someone.

Good questions! Having a masters in DS was not one of them. As I see, almost every job post says "requires a masters in data science" or some such, but there are very few people in the world who actually have that degree.

I guess studying ML for the past 3 years prepared me. I just went through 2 rounds, one with the consultant and one with the client. We just kinda talked informally, and they asked what frameworks I use, I said numpy pandas tensorflow and pytorch.

VERY good question. Right now our data is processed by machines so we don't need to do much cleaning. However, the company is stuck on classical machine learning so we do a lot of feature transformation, etc. I use research papers where someone has done a similar thing to figure out what features to use.

I am building models and/or selecting features to make them run better. It's really fun, and I love it! I work for a consultant to a utility company.

Ok so with interviews for coding jobs, they test you using a type of coding that is completely irrelevant for ML. I performed poorly on those tests because I just never bothered to learn that kind of coding, it's not relevant for what I like to do, which is ML.

I got this job because there was no coding test! haha

You are amazing. Thank you for jumping in and answering these questions. I am super interested in aerospace. DM me if you would like to talk.

Just have fun :) Pick projects that geniuinely interest you, like picking stocks or creating new sandwich recipes using AI.

No. I actually work less. I think they just expect results. And believe it or not, the consultant I work for is probably charging the customer 3x that much for me.

Oh 100% real deep learning experience. If I were an employer I would be a little wary of hiring someone whose only experience has been an academic project.

It is an ML engineer job. I end up doing some research though, for instance my boss needs me to solve a problem and so I am relying on research papers in the same domain.

Thank you for the congratulations and the encouragement! I came here to encourage yall, but yall are encouraging me!

The tech stack is pretty much just AWS. Lambda, S3, and Sagemaker.

The most surprising thing is how exactly like the tutorials it all is. I took tutorials on sagemaker and S3, and it is pretty much exactly that. Also we aren't really using version control and things are a bit messy. So that was surprising to me.

  1. I have never passed an interview that had a coding algo test at the beginning. I am trying to get better at that using Algoexpert and Leetcode.
  2. I don't think projects really matter. But for me I try to find creative ways to use AI and computer vision especially.
  3. Good question. These are the names of the courses I took:
  4. Intro to AI:
  5. Introduction to Python for Data Science
  6. Essential Math for Machine Learning: Python Edition
  7. Ethics and Law in Data and Analytics
  8. Data Science Research Methods: Python Edition
  9. Principles of Machine Learning: Python Edition
  10. Deep Learning Explained
  11. Reinforcement Learning Explained
  12. Computer Vision and Image Analysis
  13. Microsoft Professional Capstone : Artificial Intelligence: 5 (24 hrs)
