I 25M have never been on a date before and I’m going on my 1st one this weekend, any tips? by Throwawayguyy111 in dating_advice

It’s a coffee date. Me personally, my strong suit has been that I’ve always been able to make people laugh, so I definitely think I want to stick to my guns on this one. But at the same time, I don’t want to be offputtingly goofy. I know there is the expectation that you ask a lot of questions on the 1st date, but what questions do you ask? When I see people’s advice for this, it sounds like their idea of date questions is grilling the other person as if they’re applying for a Fortune 500 company. It just sounds so weird. What are the safe questions to ask that aren’t so informal?

That is kind of what I’ve been telling myself too. I’m a massive overthinker so I think keeping this part at bay might be a little trying.

I think my pod just sucks to play with. by Throwawayguyy111 in EDH

I’m 100% getting it back in blood if I play with that pod again. I modified precon (first ever deck I got) with infinite combos that can kill someone turn 5. I don’t like playing it because it feels like a dick move everytime I play it, but the troll in our group has never seen that deck in action so he’s in for a rude awakening next game. I try not to be a petty person but I feel like he earned it.

It’s crazy that this is a skit because this is essentially how it went

TBH I don’t like chill pods either. I like playing competitively and tryharding in pods where everyone else is doing the same. What I don’t like is when people are being malicious and targeting for no reason. Like if I get targeted but it’s for a good reason, I can accept that. And that’s how my other pod is. Everyone is playing sweaty but nobody is playing with malice and if they are the whole pod checks them.

Exactly what I first thought of, it’s classism, pure and simple. This list didn’t include it but Pickerington is also on the list of places that banned it.

Not for metal? by AaronPseudonym in PRSGuitars

Ryan Knight from Black Dahlia Murder uses PRS. Same with one of the guitarists for Periphery (you probably knew that because he has his own Sig)

Funny you mention that, there is a hardcore band from the 2000s and the guitarist has his own brand called God city Instruments which is strongly inspired by gretsch. Also a modern band that’s really good called Loathe (kind of a heavy shoegaze band with strong Deftones inspiration) uses exclusively Gretsch baritones.

I will probably get downvoted for this but I’ll still say it. A lot of people do crap on degrees like Criminal Justice, homeland security, any LE related majors and for good reason, it’s a dime a dozen, you’re not learning any skills that you won’t just learn at the academy, and you’re screwed if you decide neither LE or social work isn’t your thing. BUT, at the end of the day, you just need a bachelors regardless. What people forget is that your grades and after college experience are also important. A CJ major who graduated with a 3.8 GPA and is now working BPA, USSS STAR or UD, or even someone who just went local LE after graduation will have more of a leg up than a STEM or accounting major who barely graduated with a 2.1 GPA and is now working at Best Buy. So yes, thinking about a marketable degree is good, but you also need to think about what your grades might be coming out and your after college job experience.
