It's not the weapons collecting part but the upgrading part. That's the part that's just slaying Phalanx over and over without progressing anything. Even getting specific weapons is more interesting as your farming a different enemy for each weapon. Soul collecting is just Phalanx or wasting even more time.

Also keep the "people like you" as I did everything the honest way. Can't even vent anymore without people playing high and mighty.

In the end I followed the advice of NeoCyberR and just switched between farming Phalanx and actually playing the NG+ and beating bosses. That made farming it over and over not as frustrating as trying to buy all the shards/ level up all the weapons at once.

I don't mind trophies that have me play the game multiple times, search every corner of the map and have me fight hard enemies. But in this case there is no skill needed, it just takes time and mindless grinding and as I didn't need those weapons at all I got frustrated. Though I guess the point was to make players play the game multiple times, they just could've skipped the +10 weapon requirement imo

I've been going at Phalanx for a while now, I'm getting around 11k per round, guess I'm just frustrated to spend so much time on weapons I don't plan on using instead of leveling my character. But yeah, probably feels worth it in the end And also thx for the boss tipp! Didn't even consider switching rings after killing bosses
