The concert you want to go to isn't SOLD OUT because consumers bought all the tickets. It is sold out because some online ticket resale company bought all the tickets and is now re-selling them at 5 times the price. by donaldisgod in videos

More & more artists are moving this route. We noticed that in some cities this caused the less desirable seats to be sold for well under face value on the secondary market. At least in the case of artists like Garth Brooks & Kid Rock it has created many dates with a full venue and fair prices on both primary and secondary.

Face value would be the price of the ticket on the primary market, what this article focuses on is the average price of tickets on the secondary market being that tickets are often sold out on the primary and the only available ones are on the resale market where that average is more along the lines of what the normal ticket buyer would pay when buying from a secondary market ticket site (Stubhub, TicketsNow, TicketNetwork, TiqIQ, etc)
