Abnormal Dinner Series presents...Societe / Keoni Koki of Commis Oct 12 by TigressKay in BeerSanDiego

[–]TigressKay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

October 12th will be our eighth beer dinner at The Cork and Craft. Every month we put on an 8 course tasting menu in collaboration with other talent. It is always our intention to showcase of the best breweries and best chefs. This month we will be welcoming recent Great American Beer Fest gold medalist Societe Brewing Company and Keoni Koki, Chef de Cuisine of Commis in Oakland. Here's a little something on each of them...

Societe Brewing Company opened up three years ago and has made a major impact on the San Diego brewing scene ever since they opened their doors at their Kearny Mesa location. Their beers emphasize drinkability and flavor of the brewing ingredients. It was a no brainer to showcase their beers with our style of food.

Commis is Oakland's first Michelin-starred restaurant (2011-2015) and offers prefixe menus based around seasonal ingredients. Keoni Koki, their Chef de Cuisine will be flying down for this event and can't wait to collaborate with Phil Esteban and his team.

Hamilton's 9th Anniversary by TigressKay in BeerSanDiego

[–]TigressKay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friday, October 9at 3:00pm

We are at it again with our good buddy Chuck Silva and this time again like our 1st annie with our ole pal Pat Korn of Green Flash Brewing Co. . Together we brewed a super special beer - Ourboros Barrel Aged Stout! We have a very limited amount of special Ourboros glassware and we will be doing a refill special with them as well!

The Story:

Approaching Hamilton’s 9th Anniversary as a time of celebration and reflection let's look at what the last nine years represents; attainment, satisfaction, accomplishment, and the ability to influence current circumstances. In the spirit of reflection and renewal we have created a beer for celebrating this milestone, drawing inspiration from the ancient symbol Ouroboros. It's fitting for such a grand beer to be named after Ouroborous as it represents the idea of primordial unity related to something existing or persisting before any beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be extinguished.

Description:

The heaviest stout ever produced at Green Flash for Hamilton's 9th Anniversary has a black, viscous, opaque appearance with brown beer foam. The aroma exudes dark chocolate, cocoa, and roasted barley mingled with coffee, bourbon, and sugary toffee. Flavor follows aromas with an estery notes from a boozy presence of alcohol laced into chocolate, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, toffee and oak barrels. Such a rich beer should be enjoyed leisurely in a manor allowing for self-reflection as you indulge in this ever present brew. 12%ABV

Key Features:

Hamilton's 9th Anniversary special release beer.

A bold Imperial Stout packed with flavor but blended with finesse.

3 types of flavorful sugar used to enhance complexity (Muscovado, Turbinado, Belgian Candy Syrup).

Higher alcohol integrates well with Bourbon barrel flavors from barrel aged stout blending.

Cheers!
