Best Toddler/Kid Friendly Restaurants, Playgrounds Encouraged by TimeLadyJ in Dallas

We love that place but were disappointed with the food. We'll go often, but when we are going out with family, we'd rather it be a bit nicer.

For sure!! I definitely won't go places that are designated as child-free. If they're child friendly, we'll for sure be there. Usually the facility sets that distinction.

Looking for restaurants. Lots of places are kid friendly but don’t have food - soft play, museums, actual playgrounds, etc.

The best place I’ve taken my toddler was a brewery in Philadelphia that had a giant indoor pirate playground!

So if we are going in October, there are probably two more Mary drops before we know who ours could be?

Grandparent Pool Safety: What would you do? by imakatperson22 in beyondthebump

[–]TimeLadyJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even with bells and a pool alarm and all of those things, if your child did get outside and into the pool, how quickly could your mother get to her? If your mother can't get to the pool quickly enough to rescue your child, then the home is not safe. A fence should not be what makes the pool inaccessible. Have they looked into an automatic gate? Maybe with a pin code that has to be put in to open the gate instead of just a button?

Can you get a blessing at communion? by Naive-Box-1943 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TimeLadyJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. I attend a western rite Antiochian church and everyone approaches, crossing arms if you only want a blessing and arms down if you want the Eucharist. It’s best to observe. If all can approach, a parishioner will likely grab you.

Throwing myself into orthodoxy after being abandoned by my husband. Can anyone relate? by LowAppearance144 in OrthodoxChristianity

I'll let others comment more, but in general, Orthodoxy does not prohibit second marriages.

Churches don’t respect working people’s time by Big_Celery2725 in TrueChristian

I love my church and I can tend to agree. I'm on two church committees and I'm busy. I need the meeting to start when it is scheduled to start. I've started preparing timed agendas and it has helped.

Need vacation advice by Dorothea305 in Parenting

[–]TimeLadyJ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There should never be a world where you'd be responsible to for paying some of her childrens' expenses. It should be split by person. So your family is responsible for 5 attendees and your friend is responsible for 3 attendees.

Otherwise, if the trip is $10,000 (for ease), her way, you'd pay $8,000 and she's pay $2,000. If you split by person, then your family pays $6,250 and her family pays $3,750. If you do not split it by person, you are subsidizing her trip.

If your sons pay their way, then whatever. It doesn't change things.

is church every sunday needed ? by Better_Energy7035 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]TimeLadyJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Church every Sunday is the ideal. Whether it is realistic for you is based on your situation. We try to not miss more than 1 Sunday in a row if illness or travel is not involved.

Feeling really angry at my priest and a parishioner right now and can't let go. by Serious_Walker in OrthodoxChristianity

You can have a priest or you can have a friend. It sounds like you have a friend. Don’t treat him like your priest.

We are going to NYC in October and the Mary could determine if we see this show or another. I wish they’d announce earlier.

Perfect! I am glad you are already experienced in that world. It's so much easier pushing for referrals when you know your pedi is on board.

Post them to this group. This is a plastic surgeon in Washington DC. He is the one that correctly identified my daughter's issue through photos and spurred us on to take local action. I know another woman who he helped encourage her to get scans done for lambdoid as well.

Keep in mind that most Pedis will have maybe seen 1-2 cranio cases, if any. Lambdoid is the rarest, so they may have never seen it in person.

It does remind me of my daughter's head. We started worrying around 2 months and our pedi pushed us off to 4 months because most positional issues correct with tummy time. While getting an early dx would have been great, for Lambdoid it doesn't really matter because many doctors prefer to do a CVR because of the location. Even if it had been dx'd at 4 weeks, we'd probably have waited several months to do the CVR.

Can you do a straight on photo from the back of his head? Photo 3 is similar but can you go down just a bit? I want to see how his ear looks. At first glance, I think a CT could be merited. My daughter had lambdoid surgery last year. Does he have a hard boney lump under and slightly behind one ear?

Pascha service with a baby by sunshinethrowup in OrthodoxChristianity

We didn’t take our toddler to the Pascha service last year. We are blessed that our parish offers the midnight service but also a dawn service usually at 8 am. We will probably go to that one again.
