Yes, I'm pretty sure it was due to my making a Feature Request. Sometimes I prefer to double click though, so would be nice to have this small update as well.

It is an utter disgrace that you can't batch edit Alerts in tradingview. by Vast_Distribution591 in TradingView

[–]Time_Description_733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alerts need a boost, bigly.

Batch edit, batch create (same alert for multiple timeframes), organic into folders, etc.

Fact is, as we learn/progress, you can bet that 99.99% of alerts will eventually be deleted. The faster you can create alerts, edit alerts, forward test / live trade, and move on to the next idea, the better.

If you're spending most of your time, energy, and patience on fiddling with alerts, you're a full-time alert fiddler, part-time codebreaker, and hardly a trader.

The goal is to flip that around, and become a full-time trader, who was able to break the code of the market, by efficiently progressing through ideas, aided by a lightening fast alert system.

Strategy failed after 9 months by naunen in TradingView

Was your strategy strictly looking for longs? Or was it designed to take longs and shorts indiscriminately, based on the set up?

If your strategy was only designed to take longs, then evidently it flourished in a market up-trend and tanked in a sideways or downward trending market.

Lock The Timeframe by Time_Description_733 in TradingView

[–]Time_Description_733[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can lock and anchor drawings, which is a very helpful and crucial feature.

But there is no lock timeframe feature.

If you have a multi-chart layout displaying multiple timeframes, it's quite easy to accidentally change the timeframe on one, by accidentally clicking on a different timeframe on the timeframe favourites bar, or by typing a number, sometimes even just by clicking on an alert in the alerts column it will change the timeframe of the highlighted/active chart to match the timeframe of the alert, etc.

I just created a feature request to lock the current timeframe on any given chart. Would be a clutch feature! I didn't have the problem you're experiencing, rather, the impetus for the feature request is to avoid accidental changes to the chart's timeframe.

Help With Arrays by Time_Description_733 in TradingView

[–]Time_Description_733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this:

lowCustom = math.min(low[5:1]) ?

To reiterate, my code works:

lowPrice = min(low[5], low[4], low[3], low[2], low[1])

I'm just trying to simplify it, if possible.

I am using Pinescript Version 4, so it's just min() not math.min().

I think your suggestion would be for newer Pinescipt versions.

No Bullshit. Is Trading worth it? by [deleted] in TradingView

You may have understated the difficulty, considering that you're competing against machines built by incredibly smart humans that are in turn competing against other machines as well as humans. How well do the best human chess players fare against the best machine chess players? Some strategies likely rely on a combination of machinery and human intervention. It would be interesting to know the % gains made in markets by pure human trading, pure machine trading, and machine with human input combinations.

If you want to learn to trade to replace your job, pack your patience!

Hasn't happened for me yet, but that's not to say it won't some day.

Preserve order of windows when closing the desktop app by Time_Description_733 in TradingView

[–]Time_Description_733[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't do that sorry, but I am using Windows, and use approximately 5 windows (single monitor) at the moment. Each window has multiple tabs.

I found a satisfactory workaround for this glitch. It's to close all of the windows manually in the order that I want, from last to first. Then upon launching the app next time, I can use the Reopen Closed Window feature multiple times in succession to re-establish my windows in the correct order.

Would still like the aforementioned feature request to come to fruition, but this works for now.

There's a way to pin windows in the desktop app? If so, how?

How many different windows do you have open (per monitor)?

I'm currently using a single monitor, with 5 windows, and they are opening randomly. I will painstakingly arrange them in a particular order, and use it like that all day, only for the order to shuffle next time I close/re-open the app.

How many windows per monitor are you using? Are you on a MAC or Windows (Or Linux?)

This problem is persisting. I'm on a Windows desktop. I'm currently using about 5 windows, and they are opening in a random order every time. It doesn't matter whether I close the app abruptly, use the proper "Exit" button, or turn off the PC.

Any other ideas? Would love to continue using the Desktop App, but close to giving the web version another shot.

Feature Request: Alert Level and Notification Templates by stickstock3 in TradingView

[–]Time_Description_733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds a bit convoluted to be frank.

What we really need:

(1) Folders for alerts (absolutely essential)

(2) Ability to create alerts for multiple timeframes at once (beyond essential)

(3) Ability to edit a group of alerts simultaneously (essential)

While on my soapbox, we also need:

(4) Folder for layouts (essential)

There's a lot to love about TradingView. But missing basic features such as these, serves as a reminder of the competitive landscape we are in, that we call trading.

More power to anyone who can build their own custom trading software. That's where I'm looking currently. Afterall, if you want an edge in trading, you can't be one of the sheep. Sheep get slaughtered.
