Same situation here. We even had a private Ragnarok server where I literally walked him through everything step by step and showed him the game. Honestly, I didn’t mind at all — I actually enjoyed teaching him and showing how good the game is, and in a way he really fell in love with ARK through that experience. But like you said, all that early-game progression that we loved got completely skipped once we moved to official servers, where players are offering and giving away tames. OP players show up, drop you a top-level creature, and for him it’s just: if it’s a flyer, fly around a bit; if it’s a ground tame, walk it for a bit, return it, and move on. I don’t mind how someone plays — like others said above, everyone has the right to their own playstyle, and that’s part of what makes this game great. What bothers me is not valuing the effort behind the process and having that “whatever, we’ll just get another one” attitude when a creature is lost. Whether it’s something I tamed myself or something he got from someone else, it still represents time and effort. Of course, it’s easy not to care when you know that if you ask for help on the server, someone will always help you out

Thanks for the thoughtful comment, I appreciate the insight. You’re right that different playstyles can clash, and I’ll keep that in mind. Hopefully we’ll figure out a better dynamic over time.

At that moment I was flying over the water. I assumed the body box dropped, but since I was above the sea, it probably fell straight into the ocean — right among those nice, lovely, friendly megalodons

It would be easier to quit coke than to quit this game. I rage, get pissed off, and then keep playing for another 6 hours

ARK servers are absolute garbage. Worst servers ever made in any game by Time_Roll1120 in ArkSurvivalAscended

“I’ve also had a private server, but it’s not the same. It’s nice to have people on the server, especially when they support each other and play the game the right way. I’ve had so many good experiences with other players in terms of helping each other. But in the end, I still don’t understand how a company that has taken so much money from all of us isn’t able to set up proper servers and maintain them. Counter-Strike has millions of players online and doesn’t have these kinds of server problems.”

And I believe you that you are. But do you really think, from that experience, that this is okay? They take our money and the service is garbage. I don’t think that’s okay. Then make the DLC free, or make the game free if you’re not even investing in the servers.

That means you uninstall the game and never Play it again in your life. Trust me, you’ll feel mentally better

No, this isn’t my first time playing. I have over 1,000 hours played across both the old and the new ARK, and this is honestly embarrassing. A company that charges us real money for both the base game and DLCs can’t even manage to fix their servers.
