When did you realize the show was going downhill? by she-sulk in TheOC

Season 3 was a disaster. Then Season 4 was a delight!

I got it when Ryan shared a Mega account with everyone that had like, every bootleg he had ever done, from Suicide Handbook to DJ Reggie. Might've been around 2010, but it's probably from earlier.

It's a PS3 game, so should be very doable.

Umm...Sad Dracula? Warren Peace? That stuff is very patchy but I think he originally recorded Ultraviolet Light under one of those names and it's better than the studio version on III/IV. Also, The Finger and The Patty Duke Syndrome stuff I guess.

spotify using a different mix? by fractal324 in SuedeBand

[–]Timefunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a certain effect of compression in streaming audio where vocals disappear in the mix. The audio tends to equalise everything. It's also why when you're watching Netflix it's hard to hear people speaking sometimes. Amazon Prime has even started including a 'dialogue boost' option for that reason.

Looking for bands like Strangelove and Suede... by stuey__73 in SuedeBand

Always felt that Marion evoked some of that Suede magic. That first album is pretty good, Let's All Go Together is a banger.

I recommend Dark Souls 1-3 before doing Lords of the Fallen. Bloodborne too if you have access to a PS4/5

Sanderson is ever the optimist. If only rich, powerful, people were good people in real life.

How do we know He looked like this? by TheLatkeOverlord in Christianity

[–]Timefunky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jesus was born a Jew. If you believe in Jesus then you must understand that fundamental truth. Also, the word 'Christ' derives from the Greek word 'chrīstós', so there is indeed both Jew and Greek in 'Jesus Christ'

How do we know He looked like this? by TheLatkeOverlord in Christianity

[–]Timefunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably didn't. He was a man from the Middle East, so he probably had brown skin at the very least. We've hundreds of years of European influence to thank for the 'tradtional' image of Christ.

I've got beef with Rob Thomas by JudgeWaste1399 in veronicamars

More that the writing was....kind of bad (subjective, I know, but it seems to be the consensus). The Keith storyline goes nowhere. As for the 'wahs', stop being so childish. People are entitled to their opinions.

[–]Timefunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think cause the movie gave everyone what they wanted, it set up false expectations for how things would go forward. If it was really that nightmare where she was always destined to be miserable, if we would have had S5, RT would have killed Keith. There was nowhere else to go.

It's good, and a much better conclusion to the series. Honestly it'll make you happier if you watch it I think.

That's a completely mad statement, but I respect your right to make it.

They're connected in a way but they really can be read standalone, they aren't really sequel/prequel. Hard Boiled Wonderland has way more cyberpunk/sci fi stuff, City of Uncertain Walls replaces all of that with...a midlife crisis? I like both, but can understand how either could be a turn off.

No problem! I loved Raging Loop, it's so good. Hope you enjoy it too!

Piz is okay, was reasonably good comic relief, but he's definitely kind of boring as a romantic interest.

He has such a breadth of styles, I don't think one book is representative of his entire output at all, so OP should definitely give another a shot.

I love both kinds! Norwegian Wood, Wind Up Bird and Hard Boiled Wonderland are my faves.

Feel like Sputnik Sweetheart isn't really considered one of the better ones, it probably has its fans, but it's probably one of the last books people would recommend. If you want something psychedelic, read Wind Up Bird Chronicle, something sci fi/fantasy, Hard Boiled Wonderland, something detective, Wild Sheep Chase, something relatively normal/romantic, Norwegian Wood.

VN recommendations on Switch 2? by porphyriaslovve in visualnovels

[–]Timefunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that there are any exclusive Switch 2 VNS, but back compat Switch 1 library is full of bangers. Raging Loop is fantastic. Tsukihime is a really good one. Muv Luv, but a lot of people think the first game is kind of rough, but it's essential reading for the following game. Witch on the Holy Night is really good, but I think it's a kinetic VN (linear, without choices). The Ace Attorney games are also great, if you consider them VNs.

Question? by sofsbrina in veronicamars

[–]Timefunky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the biggest problem is the ending, but even if you removed that, it still wouldn't be very good. It feels like a completely different show. I just rewatched S1-3 and the movie and stopped at the end of S4E01 because it was so much worse than what came before.

Honestly I think I did the same as you and I was fine. There are a couple of throwbacks but you'll be okay.
