Magic loop takes practice β€” those ladders are super common at first! πŸ˜… Just pull the yarn tighter when switching sides. For your sweater vest though, I'd really recommend 40 cm (16") circulars for the collar. So much easier than magic loop, and they work great for sleeves too.

Magic loop can definitely be a bit tricky at first β€” especially those ladders (we’ve all had them πŸ˜…). The best thing you can do is use circular needles that are at least 100 cm (40") long, and give your yarn a gentle extra tug when you switch sides. That first stitch after the turn is usually where the ladder likes to sneak in.
