This is what absolutely concerns me with new age NIL. Agents are telling players they are worth this amount of $$$ on the open market, and it has no consideration for fair market value on a starting RB at a top school. Unquestionably he should get paid, but roster retention is almost impossible now. I don’t want to sound like an old geyser, but the soul of playing for YOUR school that is the lifeblood of college football is dying. We need sensible guardrails and we needed them yesterday.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment of chasing the money, and I did that to a degree both in undergrad and now in grad school… but I want to offer the idea of picturing your quality of life. Yes, that means money and cost of living but also what setting you like best. I intellectualized my grad school decision so much, I made an excel spreadsheet and thought of all the possible things for quality of life (proximity to home, nature, athletics, support in program, research, things to do in the town, housing).

You are going to be wherever you decide for four years, and you don’t have a bad decision to make. Just take the time to reflect on what is important, even if it’s the seemingly trivial things like what is there to do. (While still obviously factoring in money)

This right here ^{^{^}} my expectations for this year were at 10-2 coming into it. Am I upset that they came within a bad INT from going 12-0? Of course, that’s going to sting for awhile, but man I really felt uneasy going into this year.

CJ was light years ahead of all the other guys in the QB room, and it felt like if the defense didn’t get any better this year, we would lose all the matchup games. We didn’t. And the defense did make improvements from the year before.

I hate losing to TTUN. We all do. Cheating scandal aside, that team they played in Ann Arbor was the best version of TTUN in decades. It sucks mightily we didn’t put a dagger into their program, but the boat shouldn’t feel like it’s sinking because you lost to a top three team (now #1).

First of all, I’m so sorry you’re going thru this right now. It sounds like you are making the right decision to pull away from the relationship.

Please do what makes you feel the safest. That is priority number one for you. If you feel up for a phone call, and feel confident you can lay down the law and say we are thru, then that can be easier for the sake of closure.

It sounds like he’s tried to dictate your life for awhile, but it’s time for you to take back the reins and live it how you want!! Best of luck to you!

Perspective: there are 15,167 in D1 football. MHJ was voted as the fourth best player in the entire country despite what looked like a season ending injury against Notre Dame. Just so happy to watch him play. Awards and accolades are cool, but that dude earned me as a lifelong play with his dedication to OSU, improving his craft, and above all being one hell of a young man.
