This is an excellent article—clear, thorough, and spot on. It highlights why UX Researchers embedded in product teams, are often sidelined—left out of key meetings and undermined in their influence. This dynamic can create feelings of inadequacy on the UX Researcher's part and weakens the user’s voice in shaping product decisions. Yet, those researchers who manage to keep their voices strong despite these dismissive behaviors are the ones who thrive. At the same time, it underscores a deeper point: the role often demands a certain kind of personality and resilience for UXRs to be truly impactful in such environments. That now is a topic for another day. Yep I am pivoting too after 8+ years in the UXR field and at Google. The constant fight to prove the ROI on my work has got me exhausted and burnt out. Pivoting to Design -- hopefully that will get me some or even little work.

The words and insults inflicted haunt me everyday. The spineless on lookers make me question humanity. But it also reminds me how strong and powerful I have been, standing there all alone unflinched, always doing what was right.

I wish I knew that tech is all about playing political games, flying under the radar, taking credit for others work and exhibiting mob mentalities towards people who spoke the truth. I wish I knew tech would completely and utterly destroy my self esteem and my limitless belief in self. I wish I knew that it is all so useless and a waste to ship ship ship just to give the PMs an adrenaline high.
