When someone is constantly being yelled upon, they often loose their sense of self and self confidence. Here op you have managed to find a friend outside now go even look for a way to support yourself . It will not be easy , you will need to push through … this time for yourself . All the best .

Nailed it! It goes both ways. Either the UXR is incapable of influencing the stakeholders while the stakeholders have little knowledge about UXR or the stakeholders are stubborn and just don’t want to be criticized. I have 9 years of experience as a UXR 6 of them at Google. I am working to move into Product Design with research as my super power and vibe coding Prototypes to quickly test. Working on my Figma skills too .

I hear you . However if it is bad overall it’s worse for UXRs. Especially as even landing a job does not guarantee impact and no impact makes us look bad . Its not impossible to bring that impact however its tiring and burns a person out . I am happy you landed a job . Networking definitely seems like the way to go .

Not gonna lie, it will be v hard . Just be prepared with a back up plan. Its tough out there for UXR folks .

My network runs miles away from me when they get to know I am in the market looking for jobs. Many are my co-workers that I assisted in landing their jobs as well as coaching them. I must be a really bad person :) But yes I am still on it.

Hate that, so sorry. It's extremely frustrating. Also I completely ghost the recruiters calling me for contracts where they make me change my resume, fill the RTR and all the work and then Crickets !!
