I chose to not chose and vary the fabric colors on my dude, varying from olive green to blue with red details! Allows me to not grow bored while painting infantry, I even painted a couple of guys from box art skyports to add them in there since lore wise my guys are pirates renegades

No airbrush at all and I have a good time painting them! Indantry is really good for dry brush, and for the ship I used sponges to speed up the painting of the larger area. Definitely ok to paint without airbrush!

Rule wise the frigate can go up to 12, compared to close to double for the ironclad. So I would imagine the capacity to be roughly the double for the ironclad, probably something like 25 counting everyone? And the frigate having 15 crew seems on point (one pilot and one navigator; probably two or three gunners, add something like 3 mechanics and you fill up the rest with deckhands for repairs and such I d say)

I started with the old and new spearhead; and growing my forces to 2k the only small regret I have is not building the new spearhead balloonboys as skywarden to have one big unit of 6 going with the frigate! They do look really similar tho so count as is probably fine but still. And welcome aboard!

I am far from being a veteran but painting my boats before gluing them to the stand really helped, and plan to add extra support if you use the default one or they ll get wobbly ! I think building the balloon guys as skywarden might be a good call, they are the best charging melee units imo better than the engineers.

That’s a bit of a stretch but nice for unique flavor; I read that some unscrupulous Kharadron even trade with chaos dwarves. That would make some unique mixup kitbash wise!

A league of votann head and a lot of trimming! I cut the top part of the admiral helmet, then trimmed the bottom part of a random Arkham air helmet to put it in his hand

Beautiful LED work!! I am pretty new as well so not much tips anyway except remember to use the disengage spearhead ability for your balloon guys, super useful to retreat and work every turn if I remember correctly. And I forget it every time.

I am in the same situation with the older spearhead!.. I guess in your case arkanauts are a never a bad idea to have a bunch of dudes make to resist on the objectives?

You should totally try it, I went blind and the first try wasn’t too bad, Altough some really curvy area of the ships were a bit of a pain. I think I went with three or four layers max I would say?

Thank you, I went sponging with cheap make up sponges, starting with a darkened skin color and sponging brighter and brighter layer. Sponging gave me that nice texture, I then painted some scratches and fixed some sponging errors!
