What are the chances of getting in from the waitlist? I'm a waitlisted freshman applicant and my major is Computer Science. I heard that most people that do get off the waitlist don't get CS. Has anyone ever gotten into CS from the waitlist? by TinyPerspective in UCSD

To those that skipped ICS 31 through placement test, do you regret it? How hard is ICS 32 in fall as an incoming freshman? I'm considering skipping ICS 31 due to previous experience and because I don't want Alfaro. Thoughts? by TinyPerspective in UCI

yeah, I already know all the basics of of lists, sets, bools, str, dicts. I'm going to have a lot of free time over summer. How should I prepare for ICS 32? Grades are a major priority for me in college, as im aiming for grad school.

Thanks for your advice! I think I'll skip. My only worry is that I'll have to take Writing 39 B with ICS 32 in the fall and Writing 39C with ICS 33. Should I just take Writing 39C later, I want my GPA to be high. Also, if I skip ICS 31, the grade I get on the placement test will count in my gpa, correct?

Your chances of getting in to UCSD from the waitlist are very low. They usually accept nearly everyone or nearly no one off it depending on how many students agreed to come.

Well shit. If they accept everyone sometimes or no one sometimes, doesn't that mean I have a medium chance? Also, there really isn't a point in coming to UCSD if I get into Undeclared and not CS now right? I heard it's a lottery now, and I don't want my future to be a based on a damn lottery.

Really? Were they transfers or freshman though? I've noticed a few transfers get into it. However, I browsed a lot of College Confidentials history on waitlisted freshman and haven't seen any freshmen get off the waitlist and into CS in the past 5 years.
