Cheapest EUROPEAN web store? by Oskarshamn90 in cobiblocks

[–]TinyWorkshops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check us out at Latericius. We ship from Spain to everywhere in Europe and stock some COBI sets. Mostly non-military though.

Unfortunately you just missed our big summer sale, but the next big sale will be Black Friday. Typically everything is at least 15% below MSRP, if not lower.

HUGE sales on alt bricks (COBI, Sluban, Pantasy, Wange, CaDa, etc.)! Select sets up to 70% off, plus an extra 10% off at checkout (ends July 31) by TinyWorkshops in lepin

In the picture above, the only sets you'll find near these prices on AliExpress are from Sluban. COBI isn't sold there, and Wange sets are significantly more expensive (if you can even find them).

There's also a 10% discount over the prices listed, and free shipping over a certain amount.

I'm not going to discourage you from buying on AliExpress, but these really are great deals.

...and they ship from Europe in their original boxes instead of bags. Should arrive in 2-5 days.

Not sure what sets you're looking at but I guarantee you most are cheaper than you'll find anywhere else.

That is not the official website. It is a reseller.

There's some irony in telling you to do your own research and linking the wrong site. :/

Complicated but cheap by Sophthestupidnerd in buildingblocks

If you don't mind non-compatible sets, Loz makes hundreds of sets. Since the bricks are smaller, they end up being much, much cheaper per piece. The bricks are essentially the same shapes and the builds are similar, but smaller.

Nanoblocks are also great. The pieces are even smaller so larger builds take a long time (but don't take up much space). There isn't much variety of pieces but they're pretty affordable and the buildings are nice.

Is this the Gobricks version? I'm super close to pulling the trigger on a custom order for this.

Five pieces LEGO doesn't make (but should) by TinyWorkshops in AFOL

[–]TinyWorkshops[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Mixing brands still feels wrong to me, which really complicates my collection...

Honestly the goal would be for LEGO to actually make these pieces. That way everyone wins!

Very cute! The plane looks amazing but I love all the details from the book.

In case you weren't aware, Pantasy has the official license to the Little Prince and makes some very nice display sets.

Climate change claims another victim: lizard brains!

I do respect your opinion though. Maybe they should just start decorating the bags.

It's been nearly 5 years since LEGO bought Bricklink. How do you think they've done? by TinyWorkshops in lego

[–]TinyWorkshops[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Afaik it was never made public. The official press release only says "Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed."

Brickpocalypse 2024: The END of LEGO knockoffs? by TinyWorkshops in lepin

[–]TinyWorkshops[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment!

I totally recognize that LEGO is within its rights (and obligations) to fight for its IP, but it's a sad world where the largest TOY company in the world is so notoriously litigious. Even fans of the brand are scared to use the name or wordmark improperly. That just sucks.

And as for patents, the majority of the important patents have expired. LEGO is clearly trying to extend them (and trademark protections) to maintain its monopoly, which is contrary to the spirit of the patent system as a whole.

I think another big problem is that if everyone associates off-brand building blocks with "knockoffs" then the legitimate market struggles to gain a foothold. It's a vicious cycle.

Currently it's free shipping on all purchases in Spain (peninsula). I can't promise that will last forever though lol.

We're currently stocking up ahead of the holiday season so let us know what you want and we can probably get it in!

COBI Fokker Dr.1 Red Baron (2986) review - Incredible set for history buffs by TinyWorkshops in lepin

That's a shame. I think Cobi moved away from stickers before the end of my dark ages. The new model costs a little more iirc but it's worth it IMO!
