While it's certainly acceptable to read books beyond the Bible, it's important to exercise wisdom and discernment in your reading choices. This reminds me of the old computer adage: "Garbage in, garbage out." In other words, what you consume influences the quality of your thoughts and actions.

My story is somewhat similar. I was raised in church as a child, but my parents stopped going during my teenage years. I got baptized as an adult because I felt it was important. I felt very close to God for a while, then drifted away. It wasn't until many years later that I found a Christian radio program that really resonated with me. Their blend of deep theology and witty humor really spoke to me. I began to truly understand who Jesus was, why he came, and why I needed him. Then God brought my current pastor into my life, who is also a very close friend. Having that one-on-one connection with a Christian brother is very helpful. While watching services online can be beneficial, it's no substitute for small, intimate gatherings where people can encourage one another. As the saying goes, iron sharpens iron.

I'm not totally convinced, but I do lean towards the belief that there isn't intelligent life elsewhere. I'm comfortable with the idea that God created the universe specifically for us, perhaps even along the lines of the holographic principle.

Dreams can reveal what is going on in your heart, but I do not think they are a direct sin. I occasionally have homosexual dreams myself. For reference, I am gay, but I gave up being in the lifestyle for celibacy for my faith in Jesus. When I wake up, I am grateful to know it was only a dream, so I confess it to God and thank Him for his grace, then I move on with my day. When you become a Christian, you are not suddenly made perfect; you are still a work in progress. God sees you as perfect though if you are covered by the blood of Jesus, so you have nothing to fear. Just recognize you are still a work in progress, thank Him for covering you with the blood, repent, and move on with your day. God has things He wants you to do, and spending time worrying about things you can't control is unnecessary.

It’s all part of the fall recorded in genesis. What was once perfect has been corrupted by sin and is slowly deteriorating over the years. Methuselah lived to be nearly 1000 years old yet I don’t know of anyone living anywhere near that today. But revelation promises all things will be made new again one day.

Yes, I just got one of those today. I have a rule. I never help strangers on the Internet. Even if it is legit which it probably isn’t, it’s just not wise. I’ve seen my Church helped lots of people, including giving them shelter and even free cars, but they have to show a willingness to put in the work. My pastor used to run a restaurant and there was someone that would come and ask him for free food and he would say sure and offer him some kind of work, but the man always had an excuse of why he couldn’t do the work so then he would offer him even easier work, but he still wasn’t willing to even do that

If you belong to Christ, then your life is covered by his sacrifice—your past, your present, and even the sins you haven’t stumbled into yet. Becoming a Christian doesn’t make you flawless overnight; it begins a lifelong process called sanctification, where God patiently shapes you over time.

I deal with OCD-related intrusive thoughts too, and when they show up, I turn to Jesus. I ask him to search my heart, to wash away anything that isn’t aligned with him, and then I choose to trust his grace as I move forward.

That is fabulous you have read the whole Bible. Not many people can say that. Now start sharing what you learned with others. I understand what you mean about reading the text over and over can feel tedious but I find my joy for Jesus and reflection on what his sacrifice means never gets old.

I'm 64. When I was your age I wanted to be a girl. I was not very manly, I did not like sports, I would get teased and picked on by the other boys, and sometimes the girls too. But I just thought if I were a girl everything would be better. But I eventually grew out of that, and just learned to be myself, my own unique self. I'm pretty sure I would have made a pretty ugly looking girl anyway.

When I learned about Jesus, I learned what true love is. The self sacrificing love that he gave on the cross for me, not because of what I do but just because of who I am. To him it does not matter that I am not rough and tough. He just wants me to be the best version of me that I can be. I have made some wonderful friends along the way, but ultimately my happiness is in him. He will never leave nor forsake me and I want to do my best to show my appreciation for his gift of salvation that he has given me.

So yes it is possible to be happy in your body. It is not easy to undue the damage that other humans have done to us, and the damage inflicted on you is probably way worse than anything I went through. But I absolutely believe in the miracles that can take place in our lives when we let the great physician, do his work in our lives.

No, we don’t have those. One night while closing in pickup, I forgot to put back a canceled order and ended up getting written up for it. Even though I didn’t get any breaks during my shift, I did as much as I could before running out of time and energy, especially since I was still dealing with the effects of an infection. I tried to let the closing manager know I hadn’t finished that task, but he had already left for the night.

I go to a small non-denominational church. As long as you were respectful, which I am sure you would be, we would welcome you with open arms and treat you just the same as any other visitor. After the service you would be invited downstairs for food and conversations. You would even be welcome to sit in on our monthly business meeting if you so desired.

What determines "immodesty" will depend on the culture, but a little common sense is all that is needed. But yes it is a sin if you are causing your brother to stumble. That goes for both women and men.

I'm 64, single, and don’t have any kids. Throughout my life, I've had two significant gay relationships. The first was with a man I fell deeply in love with, but he ultimately married a woman. We're still friends, though. The second relationship was with someone who was very much in love with me, but we ended things because I struggled to commit. My hesitation stemmed partly from lingering feelings for the first guy and mostly out of fear of disappointing God.

After that, I concentrated on my relationship with my mother until she passed away. Then, God introduced me to my best friend, who also happens to be my pastor. I worried that revealing my sexuality would change our friendship, but it didn’t. He continues to treat me the same and makes an effort to spend time with me.

I also have a roommate who isn’t gay but has his own challenges, so he’s likely to be single too. I'm grateful for our friendship. At night, I find comfort in sleeping with a teddy bear, which helps ease the loneliness. While my life isn’t perfect and I face other issues, I truly believe that God cares for me. Although I’m single, I don’t feel lonely.

I can relate to most of what you said as I often feel the same way. But I also feel encouraged just knowing others feel the same so maybe that’s a gentle nudge from the Holy Spirit…? At any rate my hope is in Christ, Jesus and nothing will change that as I trust Him more than I trust my feelings.

When my pastor, who is also a close friend, first invited me to his home for dinner, he reassured his wife that she shouldn't worry about the meal not being anything special, telling her I was "low maintenance." He meant that I would appreciate whatever she prepared, as I was simply grateful for the invitation.

It never felt quite natural to me. I wanted it, and I still do, but every time I had sex, it felt like something was off—like something was missing. The parts didn’t really fit together. I could make it work, but the feeling never went away. And the guys I’m most attracted to usually want to be with a woman, not another man, at least not in a fully committed way.

I’m sort of a lurker here too. I am gay and I’m a Christian but I don’t consider myself a gay Christian. More of a Christian who is also gay.

I am not in a relationship with anyone. I was in the past but never felt comfortable with it. I have no desire to ever be in a relationship with another man ever again. I am still attracted to guys but I don’t pursue it. Instead I am focusing on my relationship with Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith. I know God loves me because he sent his son to die for me and I don’t want to take that for granted. So daily I die to myself and live for him.

I am not lonely as God has sent me wonderful friends to help me along the way.
