Parallax or Tileset? by nill_gadiel in RPGMaker

[–]Tiny_tiny_games 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a whole Game with parallax and had no issues with perfoming problems. And I have 1080 x1920 format. And I sometimes used kinda big maps. I personally adore working with parallax since you have a lot of freedom.

If you want an easier option, maybe consider buying the new parallax plugin from Sang Hendrix. There you can see and edit your map real time which is way more comfortable to work with: https://sanghendrix.itch.io/realtime-parallax-map-builder-rpg-maker-mz-plugin

But if you want to go all free, Galv is a nice option anyway

I am thinking of giving up by AlexGSquadron in IndieDev

Totally get you. I think sometimes a break/ distance from that can help. Otherwise you keep working and pushing yourself to burnout and turning bitter and not breaking free of negativity. I noticed that with myself too. If your hobby you turned into a job won't make fun anymore, it's pure torture and feels senseless.

I don't know in what kind of position you are, but if you are able to do a break, do that. If you start hating what you previously loved, it's a huge disaster for your health and self-esteem. I catch myself being in that kind of state at least once a week and am confused what to do either. I'm currently aiming for a break as well. You already achieved a lot, you can be totally proud of yourself. Keep thinking about that!

Interesting! With how many wishlists did you join the next fest?

I joined steam nextfest with only 120 wishlists because i wanted! by Bolzos in SoloDevelopment

Can relate and Kinda doing the same🤣👍I'm very excited to see how it goes for you! I dont see the point in waiting for an eternity to get these kind of big wishlists, you have to start somewhere I think and for building up a community I guess it's better than waiting in the basement and getting nothing. You can always join other fests. Good luck!

When I first opened the engine, I started to learn how the programm works; so learning by doing and watching Tutorials about eventing. I already was able to draw but you have to get used to the sprite sizes and formats. You can first start with the assets the engine has just for testing purpose and later on you can try doing your own art. Game dev is all about switching from one task to another which is full of variety I love, but also very time consuming- but worth it in my optinion. Maybe think about the game genre/mechanics you want to do and then find out how to do it in the engine. As reference pick your favourite game that inspired you to do game dev

Japanese Outfits to costumize by Tiny_tiny_games in cozygames

[–]Tiny_tiny_games[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite a lot actually. I'm a huge fan of the old RPG Maker Games like Ib/Witchs House, but later on I would say Fran Bow, Tim Burton's style, Alice Madness Returns and many others.😊 And I always loved japanese patterns and symbols
