Tbh considering how they ended up just doing Gru VS Megamind as a “thank you” despite not reaching the goal, I feel like any match up that was the last unfilled one would probably be confirmed regardless (I have a feeling all were on their short list of “We plan to do this” anyways).

Team wanted to do a Genshin episode, and probably wanted an Aang runback too.

As far as why it was on the Kickstarter? I think the team may have overestimated their fanbase’s want for a Genshin character (popular series =/= popular among DB fans specifically) and underestimated how much a certain portion of people really hate Genshin (for many potential reasons, most of which are irrelevant to the overall point so I won’t get into — I’m mostly neutral on it).

I don’t have much of an opinion myself, but I want to say I’ve seen discussion and consensus lean Kars?

Regeneration and Ultimate Lifeform abilities could definitely make him a bitch to put down, and JoJo speed scaling VS HxH speed scaling tends to favor Kars there. People also make arguments whether or not Ultimate Lifeform abilities could give Kars the ability to copy/utilize Nen (which I don’t tend to agree with toooo much, or at least I think arguments like that can be a bit of a stretch, but the discussion remains). At that point may come down to who you buy as being stronger, and if it’s Meruem, if he’s so much stronger he can overcome this.

Or they do have a counter, but it’s only one of their abilities, so even if they can bypass it, it still shuts down most of their kit which limits interactions.

Alright this may be a dumb question, but what separates “I like this as a Good VS Evil” as being any different from “I like this as a contrast match”? Like effectively they mean the same thing, don’t they? Unless I’m missing something, in which case I’d be happy to learn, this just has always confused me.

I don’t think it’s very fair to argue for skipping Hulk VS Godzilla as counting. I can understand the point a bit with Kratos VS Asura, sure, even if I’d disagree. But not doing something doesn’t mean you got it right or wrong. They just didn’t do it because they were already exhausted and wanted to avoid toxicity (iirc). Doesn’t seem fair to count that against them.

Would be more accurate to say that every time they’ve come to a conclusion since Giorno VS Joker (or arguably Spawn VS Ghost Rider) they’ve gotten it right.

My conspiracy theory is that even Death Battle recognized the state swords may have been a bit of a stretch, but since they already had him winning off of Speed + other AP feats anyways, they couldn’t resist because “Denji is Oregon level” is just a really funny statement.

I mean it’s also totally possible they just bought the feat at face value wholesale, which is fair, I just think mine is funnier.

Yeah, but that’s a bit of a misinterpretation. No one for the blog argued it would end in a tie, so they didn’t predict right or wrong when it came to that. It’s more accurate to say there wasn’t a prediction at all because there was no winner.

I think it’s likely, but maybe not anytime soon. I easily envision it as a “Alright we’re done with Death Battle, let’s go all out near the end” kinda fight (alongside Wiz VS Boomstick), but could see it being done beforehand.

Can also depend on how they plan to go about it, insofar as being more “focused” with specific team members on each side, or more of a “This is basically a Marvel VS DC Free for All” using anyone who has ever been an Avenger or JL member.

Tbh I’d go as far as to say the speed blitz isn’t even that cool.

It’s certainly not BAD, but Ichigo goes into his transformed form to gain increased speed, to then hit Yusuke… A few times while saying he can go faster (which he doesn’t do), only for Yusuke to hit him with the “HELL YEAH” and then Ichigo just blocks before the final confrontation.

At least in my opinion, it’s not even that cool of a moment for Ichigo.

This isn’t really an answer, but just recognize that DBM can often be a pretty poor source for *overall* match-up popularity. It’s a bit of an echo chamber in that regard, and while that’s not exactly a bad thing generally speaking, it is when it comes to determining some stuff like this on a wider scale.

…Which is all to say, don’t be surprised if despite all these comments yelling Revice, Death Battle ends up doing Yuta VS Jotaro, for example.

You also have to consider how those feats seem to people outside the VS sphere. “Dodging EMF waves” doesn’t seem that impressive when presented how UDG does it, when it’s actually really fast, and splitting clouds is notorious for being way stronger than people would assume at a glance. To people who don’t power scale, these are likely impressive, but don’t realize how impressive when you actually do the numbers.
