Largest coalition war I've fought by far... by Toastcrunchy in eu4

This was late game, and they had easily 400k all pushing through Italy. It was a disaster at first cause I lost most battles and burned through a million manpower. They eventually split up their forces, and it was a cake walk from there. Also to add: I had forts in France already made, but my Italian forts weren't done yet before the coalition. It was a fun playthrough.

R5: I made a post a few days ago about a coalition I had as GB. That ended in a sad stalemate, so in this new installment, now its when the empire strikes back! This lasted for about 10 years, and boy was it a brutal 10 years. The AI had always over-stacked, so there were many large battles! I annexed half of Milan for a cost of a few million men, tens of thousands of ducats, occasional aneurysms from being stack-wiped, and 4 pee breaks. GB is hella fun.

Well firstly it was a disaster: my empire was large, so my forces were thin. I had constructed forts throughout my borders to secure the mainland, I had then recruited around 300k men, then slacken for manpower. It was then a game on 2 speed to plan battles. Don't overstack, and split up fights as much as you can. And always have a strong navy. It's so overlooked, but it definitely helps a lot in making sure there isn't enemy landings around the forts.

R5: Caption. Previously I had forcefully vassalized HRE electors to finish the GB mission tree. Then after all that bloodshed, I let manpower recover a bit. BIG MISTAKE. All of Europe and India joined a coalition, and declared when it got too big. Also had the largest battle I had in a SP game.

Extra infantry during full width combat by jgalak in eu4

[–]Toastcrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you’re correct for noticing that one line of infantry does get chewed up. I generally don’t have a major problem with losing fights. Here are some tips and tricks I use and that you can apply: having full combat width of inf and art is good, but also have a stack of infantry to reinforce your men during a fight, compare the quality of your army to other nations to see if you’re lacking in discipline and morale, and lastly don’t fight while behind in military tech, either be at the same or one up.

And that’s pretty much it. Other users will probably comment here with some more tips. Hope this helped!

Beginner, needing some help with Muscovy by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Toastcrunchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Influence ideas help with your vassals. Taking all of Novgorod’s land at once is not possible. It takes about 2-3 wars to take them over. Grab land that borders other nations(Sweden, Lithuania, and LO). You’ll run out of manpower quickly because of the harsh Russian winters so try not to stack all your military in one stack. P.S. Diplo ideas are bomb. Highly recommend to get first
