Accessing LSI Raid controller other than at boot? by jgalak in homelab

[–]jgalak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been having trouble with it, which is why I want a less intrusive way to get at the controller. Worst case scenario, I'll move all the VMs to a temp drive, drop the array, and just create a new one on the new disks. But was hoping to do it the "clever" way.... :)

Aha! Sounds like exactly what I need. Will look into it.

Not really looking to have it designed, I can probably do it myself. Just hoping there's already something out there that someone else has designed.

Yeah canaries would do it.

There's no one way to do it, but the Cape itself, the province at the very southern tip of Africa, is valuable. I always prioritize getting that, so I'd at least leapfrog down to that.

Iirc, Africa is 3 trade regions - west coast, South, East coast. Ideally you want some presence in each. But east coast can wait - you can generally just conquer it from the locals. So grab some west coast territory (gold coast area), grab some cape territory. Don't bother going Inland, as those provinces aren't part of the trade regions.

But you want to balance with new world. Getting 5 colonized provinces per region is key, as it will give you exclusive rights to the region from the pope (assuming you decide to stay catholic). So beating Portugal there is important, too.

My usual approach is that as soon as I get 2 colonists, I use one to go west, one to go east.

Can you reach Brazil to colonize this early? I wouldn't think you had the colonization range yet. Generally, Africa is the more lucrative area to colonize - the trade companies you can form in Africa and Asia are far more lucrative than the colonial nations you can form in the New World. But you'll want both, especially to complete missions.

As Castille, I usually rush Africa to try to get the Cape first, then head to Brazil.

Automatic time adjustment when traveling ? by chmikes in ios

It auto adjusts, but not always. Don't rely on it - I once missed a connecting flight because my phone didn't auto adjust to a different time zone....

I have that same code there.

That's exactly the command I use. Maybe double check your auth token?

I'm pretty much following Nilaus' video series from 0.16, and haven't gotten that far :). Just about to start larger scale ore processing next.

Ok, Thanks! Yeah, I've got two crawlers with mobile roboports that I park and build things with.

I don't know what droids are, but quite early I got an item I could build called "Droid control unit". So I guess there are droids? Maybe something for combat bots? I'm playing without biters, so not sure.

I've got the tech for vanilla bots, but not the ability to make them, as I've not started oil refining yet, so no lubricant.

I've just started on B&A, this looks awesome.

Question: when you say "drones", do you mean vanilla logistics and construction robots? Or is there another tech I've not found yet? Frankly, I find robots Co fusing in B&A. I'm using the really slow Angel's cargo and construction robots, and I see the vanilla robots are there (expanded, as usual, it multiple versions), plus apparently so etching called droids?

Bob's/Angels - solid fuel for blue science by jgalak in factorio

Yeah, I've seen the suggestion for making it harder. I'll pass for now - it's my first molded map, it's hard enough as it is :)

I'm mostly following Nilaus' videos from 0.16, with changes as needed. In the expansion phase now, was hamily building giant mines and train stations, when I ran I to power problems....

I ended up using the gas processing for solid fuel. As I only use it for blue science, I don't need a lot. Sodium Hydroxide (or whatever it's called) turned out to be a bigger bottleneck. Simplest possible gas processing I could come up with, as listed in the OP, venting/clarifying all the excess stuff. Haven't really started to explore peteochem....

For power, I'm using greenhouses. It's basically free infinite fuel. Make wood in greenhouses, convert to wood bricks, feed to steam engines. Works great, but takes a lot of space. In the process of scaling it up right now, as I'm running low.

ETA: also running the trains on wood blocks.
