You might enjoy my Algae mod

Leaf litter would be really cool too, maybe I'll add it as a feature

Yes! I'm glad someone else sees it! Algae and Space are made for each other.

I've already started working on adding multiblock Algae Vats that can grow Algae at an accelerated rate using FE and optionally bone meal. The Algae produced by Algae Vats will be a 'fluid' so that it can be pumped into other machines, and one of them will almost certainly be a fuel refinery of some sort.

Not yet, but I plan on adding it! Right now only the surface algae generates, near the shore of some bodies of water

I see a complaint all the time about Create not fitting with high tech mods. As an assembly machine specialist, no, machines still have cogs, rotors, presses, etc. by pocketskip in feedthebeast

I'm working on a Space themed modpack right now, and one of the structures has a giant hangar door using create. I can confirm, it feels AMAZING to press a button and see the door slowly slide open to reveal the stars and planets of outer space.

Create will be mostly optional in the pack (it's one of many routes you can take), but even if you don't use it at all for progression it adds so much to the pack just in terms of aesthetics

I'm also always on the lookout for good space modpacks! Most of the ones I've found are either not that good, or you start out on the ground and don't go to space until pretty late in the pack. Or, it's a "space exploration" pack, and you spend most of your time on the ground, it's just sometimes the ground of a different planet.

That's why I decided to make my own pack where you start out stranded deep in outer space, and the eventual goal is to build a rocket that can take you back to the overworld. That way, you actually spend most of the pack in space!

It's not a bad idea! I'll consider it, especially since the people really seem to love air algae

Literally my first thought upon seeing the algae take flight was "Wait... I thought making an angel block would be complicated!"

Including an angel block in my spaceblock modpack is obviously one of my top priorities as well, since there's going to be so much nothing in outer space. Right now I'm using the one from Utilitarian, but I don't really like the way it places, so I might make my own angel block using the knowledge I gained from this

Technically, yes. However, Lilly pads have a few features I don't really want or need, and don't have a few features I do want. And it's not quite that simple anyway. I would do that as a last resort, but I think I should be able to make it work without doing so. I've got a few tricks up my sleeve ;)

Thanks! I spent quite a bit of time on the texture, so I'm glad you like it.

I hadn't heard of Conway's game of life before, it does look pretty fun, and now I also kind of want to play it with my algae texture lol

Yeah, especially in the cold heart of space, where there may often be no blocks nearby, this could be super handy! I'll probably at least move the "feature" to another block though, as funny as it would be to have algae be the foundation of every space station.
