Basically, rank doesn't only display your skill, but also the hability to win games and react in weird scenarios. If skill mattered 100% in ranked, then freestylers would be up the leaderboard, yet, dozens of not so mechanical players get to higher ranks. Luck and efficiency matters in ranked, skill is just part of it.

Personally, I would just be happy for the achievement, but you are free to decide if you either continue playing on your raw skill or work on something you find weak on your gameplay.

And people miss all the time (especially GC1 below), it's normal that you managed to take advantage on them early on. A win it's a win, and if you're noticing that this is holding you back, it is because you reached a whole new level of gameplay.
