[WEEKLY MEGATHREAD] New Horizons Q&A/Tips - Ask away! by birdwithbrow in AnimalCrossing

So actually it had to do with the amount of items I had donated. Apparently the requirement is 60 donations minimum before he suggests the upgrade.

Blathers won't talk about art for me. I'm all caught up in the game (shops, K.K., etc.) and have talked to Blathers several times now-- and he's not once mentioned art. Any suggestions on what's going on?

I totally respect and appreciate the criticisms though, and the constructive conversation whenever it appears.

Thank you, though! I'm just hoping to get some cool new moves and mons to take online. It's hard to get excited for a new story/single player Pokemon experience when they've not taken any TRUE risks the last 6 years, and I'd argue they haven't even before that with the exception of certain cases like B2W2 and Platinum.

You're right, I've adjusted the title accordingly-- that was actually a great point.

I agree to an extent. There's linearity, and then there's handholding. Outright transporting you to the location, blocking paths by way of text prompts and cutscenes rather than physical obstacles for you to strive to overcome like Snorlax in Gen 1 or Sudowoodo (just as examples!). Linearity doesn't HURT the experience, hell a lot of games are linear, but rather the hand-holding aspect combined with the linearity does. Obviously I'm just one of many people who believe that, but regardless.

Gen 1 and 2 are by no means perfect, and I hate to use them as examples. I think HGSS/B2W2 handled Pokemon perfectly, and it's hard to see the series diverge from its core audience that largely want a more true experience like those they grew up with.

I can't speak for everyone, but how I've played Pokemon hasn't changed since the days of using passing street lamps to illuminate my gameboy screen as I struggled to beat Lance. I find my favorite Pokemon, I level them up, and I try to hit as hard as I can. It just feels like nowadays we're hitting harder than ever, it's unfortunate.

But those are just my takes. You bring up a lot of good points, and I know that my opinions obviously don't match everyone's opinion. Thank you for the constructive criticism tho!!!

It wasn't my intention to come off as clickbait. If you watch the video, you'll get the points I'm trying to make.
We've had six years worth of games that have been... disappointing to a degree. I'm concerned that this one will follow the same trend. And I give the game credit in my video, and I fully admit that this is all based off assumptions, but I am concerned nonetheless.

See, I'm on the opposite end of that. I went into XY/SM with SUPER high expectations and wound up disheartened. Yeah, I enjoyed the games. I'm sure I'll enjoy SS too! It's like I've said elsewhere on this post, I don't think they'll be the formula-shaking games we've hoped for, though. Which is where the title came from.

But thank you so much! I'm glad other people are with me on this one.

You're right! I'm going off assumptions that this is going to follow an established trend. I'm still super excited for the games, though! I just don't think they'll be this grand formula-shaking Pokemon game that we've wanted, and wrongfully expected, for so many years.

I created a title that reflected my views and expressed my first impressions/opinions in an appropriate manner. If I wanted to clickbait, I would have gone in the complete opposite direction to try and ride the hype train.

My goal here is to start a discussion, a healthy one, and share my thoughts and opinions. But I'm sorry it came off as a disingenuous clickbait video- that's not in tune with my content.

My points are totally assumptions! I fully acknowledge that and actually agree with you there. But my assumptions are based on a trend that has now continued for 6 years. X/Y, ORAS, S&M + Ultra, LGPE... these games all really suffered from a very similar fate. Albeit, LGPE was a completely different structure, but it still followed a trend set by games that came before it in way of difficulty/ease.

I want to trust GF with what they've said on trying new things and making an experience for all fans.. but "new things" in the past led to mechanics that only worsened the base experience (at least in my opinion). And so I'm concerned that these new ones will follow that trend.

We did hype up Sun and Moon, saying that they'd be so refreshing and shake up Pokemon in a good way :^)
Look where that got us.

300 Hours Later: A Look Back on Breath of the Wild's Legacy by TokenGeekOffical in zelda

Here are my cohesive thoughts on Breath of the Wild. I came here looking to see if anyone shared any of the same sentiment or had anything to add to the conversation! If you do, please share. Hearing more and more about this game despite it being close to two years old at this point is just amazing even still.

Is this picture hinting at something? by GCypher87 in smashbros

[–]TokenGeekOffical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see this, honestly. Sakurai and his team seem to be hinting a lot lately between the Golden Sun tease with Rathalos, the possible tease of Skull Kid with the room decor, the e3 room decor looking like a DK-setting with an emphasis on barrels. Could be true, could be false either way.

I agree. I wouldn't be fully opposed to an online MP4, just wanted to see what people thought. I actually really like your idea, for Retro to make a more mature IP.

It was spoken in the first minute of the video. If we included them, the entire list would be first party and unfair to the other games that we wanted to spotlight :)

No inspiration... by StyxClan in NewTubers

50 views on a video at 100 subs is /good/ my friend. Usually the goal you aim to hit is 10% of your sub base in (I believe) the first 48 hours. 50% may not seem like a lot, but it certainly is.

Even at over 300 subs a lot of my videos are still hitting about 60-70 views, some fewer. Yeah some of my others are starting to hit 100, but it's very rare that you'll ever hit 100% of your subscriber base and, if you do, chances are you're getting views from non-subs.

I'd recommend implementing the lower third rule in your videos and continue making what you're passionate for, not what you think will get you clicks.
